Trilogy at John Lewis Birmingham

Last month I wrote about my evening spent with John Lewis Birmingham, finding out about the Loved and Found department that is such an amazing addition to the John Lewis brand. This post is almost a second part to Loved and Found, with the focus being on the Trilogy department that is concerned with denim, and the perfect companion pieces to wear with jeans. Trilogy promises to find you the perfect pair of jeans within three tries, hence the name, and I can honestly say  they found mine on the first attempt, along with some great pieces to ensure that opting for denim is no longer just a casual, dressed down option.

Trilogy stock most high end denim labels, from Paige Denim, AG, J Brand to DL 1961. There also have a range of tops, jackets, lumberjack style shirts and even chic coats from the likes of Graham and Spencer, American Vintage, Helene Berman and Joie. The idea is that you can put together a denim wardrobe that is both smart and casual, and is ultimately very wearable. The Trilogy team put together some key looks and modeled them for us, it was safe to say that, even someone like me, who would prefer a dress or skirt to a pair of jeans, was totally won over by just how elegant and chic the looks were.

DSCN9783I loved the long, American Vintage coat that featured in the last look so much that I had to try it on over my dress – I think it shows just how versatile the piece is.

Trilogy promised to find me my perfect pair of jeans in three attempts, but, as I already mentioned, they did this in one. I like straight to skinny jeans (although the team are telling me that skinny are definitely on the way out.), and prefer a dark indigo denim rather than black of any light wash. I find jeans that fit on the bottom tend to be too big on the hips and waist, but the Paige Denim jeans that were chosen for me were absolutely perfect and fitted like a dream. I teamed then with a Velvet by Graham and Spencer blouse that I had totally fell in love with from a first glance.

DSCN9793I loved my experience with Trilogy, it really takes all the hard work out of trying to find the perfect jeans that you will wear forever. I also came away with better knowledge of how often I should be washing my jeans to preserve the colour (about every 14 wears girls and boys – use the freezer to kill bacteria).

With huge thanks to Trilogy at John Lewis, Grand Central for the invitation.
