What the Perfect Family Home Should Have
When you start looking for a family home, there are certain things you need to look for. We all have things we would love in an ideal world; a swimming pool, huge garage or a walk in wardrobe. But we can live without those dream things. Here are a list of things that are important when you are looking for your perfect family home. If you’re looking to move house soon, here are some things to add to your checklist.
The Right Location
Everyone says this, but it’s true: location is the most important thing about a property. This is even more true when you’re trying to find the ideal home for your family. The location needs to be somewhere with good schools nearby. It needs to be in a safe and secure neighbourhood with pretty low crime rates. And it also useful to be close to other extended family member if possible. All these things are important, and they all need to be taken into consideration when buying a new home and choosing the location.
Of course, the best locations can also be the most difficult to buy in, as everyone has the same idea. If you have a larger budget, and can find a plot, a self build could give you what you want. You would need to find an architect for the plans and would be required to get planning permission, but many people do go down this route now, with companies like Bryn Thomas Industrial able to organise transport of large machinery needed, and also organise Hiab Lorry Hire if your location happens to be more remote and therefore difficult to access.
Space to Grow
Families sometimes get bigger. Sometimes, this is planned, and sometimes it’s not! So, if you have a young family and you’re not sure whether or not you’re going to have any more children in the future, it’s a good idea to buy a home with room to grow. This means it should have plenty of space and enough bedrooms to cater for one more child. And then if you decide that you don’t want to have any more children, at least you’ll have a spare room that can be used for when visitors stay.
Outdoor Space
Most families want their children to get active and exercise as much as possible. But if you live in a cramped flat with no real outside space nearby, this can be difficult. So, when you’re looking for a family home, make sure there’s outdoor space nearby. Ideally, this will be the house’s garden. But if you can’t afford to buy a home with a big garden, try to buy a home somewhere with parks and fields close.
Plenty of Storage Options
When you have a family to cater for, storage is one of the most important elements of all. You should never buy a family home without first thinking about where you’re going to store everything you have. When you have children, there are so many toys and clothes that need to be stored. Ideally, make sure you have a garage and an attic that can be used to store things in. This will give you a little more flexibility, but things like cupboard space are still things that needs to be at the forefront of your mind when buying.
