Why don’t you have a stylish April?

April is here, and this is going to be a very busy month for Fashionista’s with lots of cool and stylish events, product launches and one very special wedding! Here is Fashion-Mommy’s guide to how to enjoy a stylish month!

  • Beg, steal and borrow a ticket to see the numero Uno music star of the moment, the amazing Adele in concert. (From April 12th).
  • Check out a stylish star starring in a Terence Rattigan Play. To celebrate the centenary of his birth, there is a Terrence Rattigan season in a range of London theatres. My  picks would be the Trevor Nunn directed ‘Flare Path’ starring Sienna Miller at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket, or Cause Celebre, his final play telling the story of the Alma Rattenbury case and starring Ann Marie Duff.(The Old Vic)
  • Ann Marie Duff in Cause Celebre

  • Sienna Miller - Flare Path

  • Check out a hot clothes collection. Pearl Lowe’s latest range for Peacocks is retro heaven with a beautiful range of tea dresses and is in store now, with the Peacocks By Design inaugural collection launched on April 7th.  Wallis’s 1950s inspired 1923 collection hits shops 18th April, whilst New Look’s latest idol collection will be in stores mid April.
  • Must see TV for April is ‘The Kennedy’s’ which starts on The History Chanel on 7th April at 9pm. Katie Holmes is playing Jackie Kennedy and I am dying to see if she pulls the role off. From the publicity shots, it seems she has got the look to a tee.
  • You can also check out gowns belonging to Jackie Kennedy’s alleged love rival, Marilyn Monroe at the Marilyn – Hollywood Icon exhibition at the American Museum in Bath. This is showcasing 20 of Marilyn’s most famous costumes, along with other memorabilia. The red sequined dress from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is one of my favourites on display.
  • Get to Selfridges Birmingham for Destination Denim on Saturday 9th April. Get advice on the perfect style of jeans from experts from Citizens of Humanity, Paige denim and Goldsign. You can sign up for a bespoke jeans consultation, watch a graffiti artist at work, and, if you buy a pair of jeans, you will get a special goodie bag. (From 2-8pm – 4th  floor).
  • Check out the beautiful art work on display at the Cult of Beauty exhibition at the V&A from 2nd April. Celebrating the beauty of aestheticism and bringing together works by Whistler, Rossetti and Oscar Wilde amongst others, this is unmissable. Also check out the Cult of Beauty Collection at the  V&A shop. I love this ring that was based on a ring owned by Edith, the wife of William Holman Hunt.
  • Enjoy the wedding of the century! Kate Middleton and Prince William tie the knot on April 29th and the whole world will be watching. A later post will give you lots of ideas about how to spend the day, but you can celebrate the event beforehand by taking afternoon tea at Harvey Nichols, Birmingham. The Royal Wedding tea costs £30 per head and includes high tea and a glass of champers to toast the Royal Couple. You also get a fabulous William and Kate commemorative mug featuring Quince William and Skate Middleton. How very English!
  • Enjoy April – don’t drink too whilst celebrating the wedding!
