Winter;s definitely on its way, temperatures are dropping and the nights are drawing in. So here are my hints and tips for making October a super stylish fashionista month.
- Check out the fab 1960’s fashions are worn by the super stylish cast of the new Brit Flick ‘Made in Dagenham‘, Decide whether you are going to channel cute Jaime Winstone or chic Rosamund Pike. Released 1st October.
- Get ready for the super Saturday night fash-off between Cheryl Cole and the reining champion Danni Minogue as X Factor goes live this month. If that’s not your thing, you could turn to BBC and admire the ever stylish Tess Daley and the beautiful Alesha Dixon as Strictly Come Dancing makes a welcome return.
- Go and see the amazing Ballet Russes exhibition at the V&A this month. If you can’t get to London, at least check out the amazing range of complimentary items in the V&A online shop. I’ve got my eye on a stunning brooch.
- Visit a new store. If you’re in Wednesbury on Thursday 7th October, get yourself along to the Gallagher Retail Park for the opening of a new TK Maxx superstore. There are free goodie bags for the first 500 people through the doors, along with £10 vouchers. In addition, there are free complimentary massages from the 5 minute angels.
- Pre-order your copy of Luella Bartley‘s English style book from Amazon.co.uk. The inimitable Luella casts her eye over all things English in this much-anticipated book.
- Meet a fashion star. If you happen to be in Birmingham this October, you could get to meet a fully fledged fashion star at not one, but two book signings. Nigel Barker, judge on America’s Next Top Model and photographer, will be signing copies of his new book in Selfridges, The Bullring, on Wednesday 6th October between 6pm-7pm, whilst fashionista’s favourite Gok Wan will be in WH Smiths signing copies of his new autobiography on Saturday 16th October from 12.30pm.
- Chanel true Hollywood style and host your own Halloween party on the 31st. However, take your style keys from Kate Moss, who wore a glamorous lace dress and top hat when attending a Halloween bash with DJ Nellee Hooper, rather than looking towards the crazy snake costume worn by Heidi Klum. Alternatively, go and see Wicked and be truly amazed.
- Visit the ‘world of Manolo’, ground floor at Liberty, Regent Street, London and delve into a fabulous world of Manolo Blahnik, with a range of fabulous shoes and Liberty printed fabrics and scarves. You could meet the shoe legend himself if you are around on Thursday 21st Oct at 6pm, as he will be in store signing copies of his new book.
- Pre order ‘The Fashion File’, the new book by Mad Men designer Janie Bryant and tap into the fabulous fashions of Joan and Betty Draper. (released 25th October).
- Try to catch fab documentary ‘The Curse of the Hope Diamond’ this month and find out that diamonds are not always a girls best friend.
- Check out Fashion-mommy on the radio. Fashion-mommy will be having a chat with Joanne Malin from Radio WM on Mornings with Joanne Malin on the 19th October at 10.35am, hope you all listen in!
- Pay a visit to NEWLIFE and check out their daily deals this month. Every day has a special promotion where you will save even more cash, whilst helping an important and worthwhile cause. (Charity superstore – Hemlock Way, Cannock.)
If you have any more ideas for ways to have a fab October, please leave a comment and I will add them to the list.
