Wrap up – it’s cold outside.

Ice storms often coat many surfaces, such as trees

We are set for a really cold Christmas, and an even chillier new year. Temperatures have plummeted, snow is everywhere, and the best thing we could do is stay inside. But life does go on, so the best advice fashion-mommy could give right now is wrap up. The good thing is that cold weather means a chance to show off your fabulous winter wonderland coats, scarves, hats and gloves, and prove that you can be warm and stylish, all at the same time.

Celebrities are notorious for braving the winter weather without putting a coat on, but this year may prove to be the one where even the skin revealing stars have actually put a coat on. Mylene Klass used a pretty retro style fake fur stole to cover up her dress at The Sun‘s Military awards, whilst Kylie looked snug at the Thanksgiving parade in New York, Rebecca Ferguson was super stylish at the Very Fashion Show in a 1960’s style coat, whilst Burlesque star Kristen Bell looked amazing in an Alberta Ferretta black coat at the Berlin premiere, totally upstaging tacky co-stars Cher and Christina Aguilara. Kate Middleton wore her favourite winter white coat whilst visiting Westminster Abbey in November, whilst this week another Kate, Ms Moss wore a black fur jacket to a performance of festive ballet, The Nutcracker, which she attended with bessie friend Sadie Frost. Clearly, wrapping up has never been so stylish.

I’ve trawled the web to bring you some of my favourite winter buys, that hopefully will last for the whole of the winter season, and are timeless enough to bring out year after year, when the mercury in the thermometer begins to fall.

Coats

The high street has some amazing winter coats this year, and many are now reduced, so it really is the time to bag a bargain. I love these two designs from New Look.  The red coat has a really stylish hankie hem, whilst I love the 1940’s style fur collar on the black coat.

Dorothy Perkins have a fab range of coats and capes, many with a military style theme to them. Here are two of my favourites.Wallis has an amazing diverse range, featuring vibrant colours, as well as the loveliest winter white coats, and glamorous evening fur cover ups.

Accessories

When the weather is cold, you can really go to town and pile on the accessories in order to keep warm. I love scarves and seem to buy one a week. Here are some of the best the high street has on offer.
