Sofa Trends For Autumn

Autumn is a time when our thoughts, inevitably, turn towards Christmas. This is a time when we want our homes to look their absolute best as we welcome family and friends to be part of our celebrations. This means that any home improvements, whether cosmetic or structural, need to be sorted during the Autumn season.

One change can be replacing your sofa. Your sofa one of the most important pieces of furniture in your house, and is certainly the most important in your living room. If you are looking to change your sofa this Autumn, then step this way for inspiration. I have been looking at the range at Gallery Direct Sofas to check out their Autumn/Winter collection, and here are some of the key looks for this season.

Art Deco Styling

In recent years the Art Deco look has had a real resurgence, and this is particularly true when it comes to upholstery. Art Deco style sofas have ushered in a trend for fabric sofas, moving away from leather which had been popular for so long.

These sofa styles have curved edges, but also a more angular look thst makes them both modern and nostalgic. Colours like moss green and steel blue also add a touch of the standout to these sofas.

Mid Century Modern

Mid century modern styles are becoming increasingly popular. This trend, which takes inspiration from the 1950’s up to the 1980’s is definitely more no nonsense in it’s ethos, but it also has a very cool aesthetic.

The 1970’s,  in particular, are becoming very fashionable after long being seen as the decade that style forgot. I’m not suggesting you should opf for brown floral wallpaper, but a luxurious brown leather sofa is a different proposition altogether.

A Sofa Bed

If you have lots of family coming to stay this Christmas, then adding a sofa bed to a room will not only be a stylish piece of furniture, it could also be a lifesaver.

Sofa beds have really moved on from their earlier, just functional origins. Today, they have a minimal, eye catching aesthetic with a real Scandi edge. This makes them not only practical and useful, but also makes them a stylish piece of furniture in their own right.

If you are thinking of getting a new sofa this season, you really are spoilt for choice when it comes to style and design. There is just so much to tempt!
