Style Icon of the month – Lana Del Rey

Maybe she is a recreation, with newly inflated lips and a retro image. Frankly I don’t care. She has the most amazing voice and in Video Games, one of the best songs and videos of the year. She also has truly incredible personal style. I am of course talking about Lana Del Rey, who is my style icon for the month of November.

Lana has an old-fashioned film starlet feel. Huge eyes and the most talked about lips of the moment are teamed with Brigitte Bardot/Claudia Cardinale lustrous hair. And then there’s the clothes.

Lana describes herself as a ‘gangsta Nancy Sinatra’ and could well be her best judge. Her vintage style to me could best be described as pin-up. Think Cybil Shepherd in ‘The Last Picture Show’ crossed with Veronica Lake and you have Lana Del Rey. She mixes those retro prints and styles, mini hot pants, ladylike blouses and slogan t-shirts with the sorts of hoop earrings that aren’t usually seen this side of JLo. She is also no slouch in the designer department, wearing the Prabal Gurung floral print dress that had previously been spotted on SJP.

Lana is so visually exciting that I am really looking forward to seeing her blossom into a true style icon. I think this is definitely a case of watch this space.

Bodhi…and now they do body moisturisers!

Anyone who is a regular visitor to the Fashion-Mommy site will know I am a huge fan of Bodhi botanical therapies. This is a wonderful range of bathtime therapies that have the most amazing scents that can leave you feeling revitalised, rejuvenated, or relaxed, depending on your choice of therapy.

So when I was asked if I would like to trial some brand new body moisturisers,I was very excited. Loving the Bodhi scents, particularly Ylang Ylang Incensa, I was interested to see how they would translate into cream form, and how they would leave my skin, which is a little tired at the moment, feeling.

I have been testing the moisturisers at different times of the day and night, and have come to a overwhelming conclusion. YOU NEED THESE MOISTURISERS IN YOUR LIFE! They are perfect for every facet of your life. Let me explain further…

Start with Rosemary Chi, after an early morning shower, the revitalising Rosemary Chi, with its clean, herby scent is the perfect pick-me-up. Soft enough to glide right into the skin without leaving a sticky smear on your clothing, this fragrance just leaves you feeling super invigorated and would be perfect to pop into your gym bag.

Keep Ylang Ylang Incensa for those special nights out, this is a heady, sensual fragrance that is just perfect for times when you have someone special to rub it all over (if you catch my drift….)

After a relaxing, leisurely soak, reach for the Jasmine Falls, this relaxing, soothing fragrance is perfect for when you want to wind down after a long, hard day. Those jasmine and lavender notes will have you feeling at ease with the world.

And keep the other half happy by treating him to Pep Noir. My husband adores the peppery spiciness of Pep Noir, with it hints of Frankinscense. This is the sort of fragrance that lasts all day long and smells just divine.

The body moisturisers are fabulous. The scents last for a long time, indeed, I could still smell them in my bathroom hours after using them, the scents just lingered in the hair. And these are also a touch of luxury to add to your bathroom shelf, and perfectly compliment the Bodhi bath therapies, to create that all-over scent.
