Perfect Pieces for a working wardrobe

Remember the days when a smart working wardrobe meant a really bad suit, whether you were male or female? Thank goodness those days are over. Many of us need to have smart pieces in our wardrobe, whether, like me, you split work between home and numerous business venues, or whether holding down full or part-time jobs in any environment where first impressions count.

Your working wardrobe says a lot about you, so the best wardrobe is almost a capsule one, made up of pieces that can be mixed and matched to make a range of different looks. You can pick up inexpensive pieces from George at Asda that can be mixed with investment cashmere knitwear that will leave people guessing just how much you really spent on your outfit. Make sure you have at least one Wow! piece in that wardrobe, for that most important meeting, or when you being interviewed for that promotion. And don’t think the wardrobe needs to be restricted to black or navy, colour can make a real impact when chosen carefully.

Project D for Simply Be – Amazing First Collection

One of the most exciting collaborations between a designer label and a High Street name has just hit the shelves. Simply Be has teamed up with the one and only Project D to produce a fabulous designer range that doesn’t stop at a size 16, and the collection is just fabulous.

Project D, the label founded by the super Stylish Tabitha Somerset Webb (of Tabitha bags) and the one and only Dannii Minogue (the X Factor legend who I miss more and more each year as I cringe through another Tulisa show), is a celebrity favourite. Project D dresses have graced the likes of Tess Daly, Sarah Harding and Pippa Middleton, they are always ultra feminine with beautiful prints and beadwork and they flatter the wearer in a way that many ‘designer’ styles fail to do. They are now bringing this glamour to Simply Be, and I am so impressed that they have chosen to work with a brand that actually goes up to a size 32.

So what is the collection like? Just as you would expect from Project D, beautiful is the first word that springs to mind. Floral maxi dresses that are perfectly floaty and will be your summer holiday must have, adorable evening pieces featuring glittery American skylines, and dotted, 1940s inspired dresses that are timeless classics that will live in your wardrobe forever.

So many wonderful pieces – I’ve basically made a wishlist and included them all!

Harvey Nichols Birmingham S/S Fashion Show 2013 – It’s coming!

The Harvey Nichols Birmingham Spring fashion show is just around the corner, and  has proved such a success that this season it will be bigger and better than ever before. And it will be in a new venue.

With the last show taking place in The Mailbox Fashion Theatre, there were clear signs that the show was growing in popularity. With this in mind, this Spring’s show will be taking place in the Old Post Office in The Mailbox on Thursday March 21st, the smart industrial space  providing a perfect catwalk for Harvey Nichols Ultra-modern designers and ranges.

The Harvey Nichols fashion show always has the most fashionable front-row in the city, often including regional sporting and media celebrities. It has become an absolute must-have on the Midlands fashion calendar with the best of the latest collections from the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli and Christian Louboutin on display, along with some of the regions most beautiful models.

“We are very excited that this will be the biggest and best show we have ever staged,” explained Richard Vickery, General Manager of Harvey Nichols. “It will be in the same venue that Style Birmingham Live was held last year because we felt it was the perfect setting for us to showcase our striking S/S13 collections.”

Tickets cost £15 and the evening will kick off with a Champagne reception at 7pm. Following the show, guests can enjoy an exclusive 15% discount in store. Tickets are available from the Personal Shopping team, online at www.theticketfactory.com/harveynichols or by calling 0121 616 6008. It promises to be a fantastic show – it always is, so if you are a Midlands fashionista, this is one event you can’t afford to miss. See you there!
