Homecoming Queen Style – Perfectly Pretty
One of the most long-lasting of all dress trends is for those that we call ‘Prom Dresses’. Every summer, at weddings, ladies days, regattas and other occasions that call for something a little bit special, we see a resurgence of those beautiful, full skirted, often strapless dresses that hark back to the last hurrah of Hollywood, the 1950s. Those were the days when screen goddesses like Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and Doris Day chose feminine styles that have set the trend for prom and homecoming dresses for decades to come. But when we talk about prom dresses, we often mean homecoming dresses. Prom dresses were traditionally full length Princess style,…

The final Summer sales; What to choose?
The Summer sales signs are everywhere, designed to enticing and seducing us with some amazing bargains. Sales are great and you can pick up some real bargains, but, if like me you’ve recently been on holiday and money is tight, you may need to have a sort out to sell some unwanted stuff before you start buying even more. Frederiksberg from White Stuff
We may be in the Middle of Summer, (and something that resembles Monsoon season at the moment) but the first Autumn drops are already starting to appear in shops and online. One of my favourite of the new collections is from High Street independent White Stuff. White Stuff have embraced the coming of Autumn with their first Autumn collection. ‘Frederiksberg’. This is a collection inspired by Scandinavian prints and textiles, but that doesn’t mean that you are going to be walking around resembling an Ikea sofa. Eather, there are graphic prints, florals and butterflies on graphic paper backgrounds and large, Orla Kiely style polka dot prints on tops with cute…

A Radley Bag = A British Classic.
Radley, the classic British bag company famous for the cute Scottish Terrier logo, will be celebrating its 30th Birthday next year. Yes, it was in 1984 that Lowell Harder started her business on a stall in Camden Market, London, going on to one of the best loved and iconic of all British bag companies. For a while I must admit that Radley (or Radley London as it has now been re-branded, showing pride for those Camden Market roots) disappeared off my fashion radar. I’m not sure whether it was the dog logo, or the overuse of those beige and pale pinks, but I just found myself passing the Radley stands…

Can High Heels ever be comfortable as well as beautiful?
I feel as though I am currently living two different shoe lives. My public life is spent constantly running around in high heels. Functions, nights out, weddings, funerals, meetings with the bank manager and more are all attended in heels – the higher, the better. But the private me, the mommy playing football in the garden, running in the park or trying to manoeuvre the trolley with the wonky wheels at the supermarket, spends her time in flat ballerina pumps. They are so much more comfortable and I can do so much more when I’m wearing them. But, try as I might to convert myself to their merits, I still…
