A Radley Bag = A British Classic.

Radley, the classic British bag company famous for the cute Scottish Terrier logo, will be celebrating its 30th Birthday next year. Yes, it was in 1984 that Lowell Harder started her business on a stall in Camden Market, London, going on to one of the best loved and iconic of all British bag companies.

For a while I must admit that Radley (or Radley London as it has now been re-branded, showing pride for those Camden Market roots) disappeared off my fashion radar. I’m not sure whether it was the dog logo, or the overuse of those beige and pale pinks, but I just found myself passing the Radley stands in stores like John Lewis and Debenhams on the way to other brands. But that was then.

The first event that made me sit up and take notice was when one of my ultimate style icons, model Laura Bailey, became the face of a new collection for Radley.  Laura is one of those effortlessly cool women who always looks amazing, even when dressed simply in jeans and a crisp white shirt. I loved the image used above, where Laura adds a classic black Radley tote and showed that this could be a timeless piece that you would use for years and years, with the leather only improving with age.

I was also struck by the fabulous colours the new leather bags came in. The pale pink and beige shades are still there for the die hard fans, but there are also some vibrant shades in the palette, teal and red, burgundy and orange are all represented in the latest designs. And neutral shades include the classic tan that looks so fabulous with denim, or with white in summer.

Classic, elegant, and totally gorgeous, I think Radley bags are now a must own in your handbag wardrobe.
