Land Ahoy! Push PR’s seaside inspired Press day

Last week was the start of a mammoth round of Spring/Summer Press days. Yes, whilst the weather is turning decidedly nasty, fashion is looking towards Spring/Summer 2013 and the promise of sunny skies and brighter days. First up on my very extensive list was Push PR, who were clearly enjoying getting into that Summer holiday mode with their showroom resembling a vintage style seaside town. Life buoys festooned the room, as did saucy cutouts to pose for those seaside snaps, whilst fishing nets were the perfect way to display the gorgeous jewellery of Alice Menter and Eastern Mystic.

Fabulous jewellery designs from Alice Menter

Loving these from Eastern Mystic

There were so many fab brands on display. Nelly’s formidable shoe collection just gets better and better, with gorgeous heels to die for, whilst they also showcased a great range of Chanel style jackets and statement costume jewellery. Tara Starlet’s vintage inspired pieces evoked images from Betty Grable to Marilyn Monroe by way of Bettie Page. There were some great jersey wear pieces from Hot Squash, whilst Eileen Fisher shows why she is such a phenomenon for women who want smart, casual luxury.

I can just see Audrey Hepburn in this dress from Tara Starlet

And then there are the brands that always make me gasp with a mixture of love and lust. 18 and East are continuing our fascination with The Great Gatsby, but now adding ice cream sorbet shades that are just mouth-watering. Zesty yellow and mint green chiffon embellished with bugle beads are just so perfectly pretty for Spring/Summer and were definitely amongst my favourite pieces seen that day.

What a gorgeous shade from 18 and East

Loving this piece.

Tusting is another glorious brand, a great traditional British company who produce glorious bags of the softest leather. The latest collection is also ultra modern, with great colour pop shades and an array of different shapes. I loved the mustard and brown satchel that would look great with jeans or used formally for work.

The Push PR press day was a whole lot of fun and great fashion. The icing on the cake was the chance to create your own Chamilia bracelet, choosing your own beads. I absolutely adore the bracelet I made, and haven’t yet taken it off.

With thanks to Push Pr for the fab event.

A bit of fun

Pippa Middleton nails this season’s berry shades

It was a very busy week for Pippa Middleton last week. On the promotion trail for her Party Planning book, ‘Celebrate’, on one day alone Pippa wore no less than four great looks, my favourite being the great plum dress from Roksanda Illincic. Pippa really nails this season’s berry shades in this dress, with its ladylike shape, great drape style neckline and sophisticated knee-length skirt.

Berry shades, plums, purples, maroons and burgundies, are always a great choice for Autumn. Rich and warm, they flatter most hair shades and skintones, and just look great with boots and layers. There are berry shade dresses everywhere this season, in shapes and fabrics that suit all body types. Definitely worth investing in, they will easily take you from day to night.

Ugg Australia launches a new store in Birmingham

A few weeks ago I was invited to take a look around a rather special new store. Ugg Australia was just about to launch a new, stand alone store in Birmingham, and I was offered the opportunity to take a little look around before the official opening. The idea of being let loose in a shop chocked full with shoes and boots was just to good to turn down, so, battling sinusitis, I made a trip to the new store…and it was well worth the visit.

I think we all have a pre-conceived notion of what we will find in an Ugg Store. Ugg boots are a modern phenomenon, the snuggly, cuddly boots that all the celebs wear during their downtime, that are beloved of mothers on the school run (guilty as charged in winter,) and seem to be the natural partner to skinny jeans. They may not be the prettiest boot in the world, but they are definitely the most popular. Basically -what you see is what you get – neutral coloured comfy snowboots, no riddles, no bells, no buzzers, and certainly no glamour…or so I thought.

The reality is that those comfy boots are only half of the Ugg story. Stepping inside the new store I was stunned at the variety of styles available, and at how utterly gorgeous and glamorous the styles were. The complete Ugg collection is full of fashion forward boots and shoes that include heeled ankle boots, shoeboots and New York influenced, 1970s style, knee high boots. Colours are varied, and some of the designs include some serious hardward, with studs and buckles prevelant across the collections. This is still Ugg, the sheepskin is still there, even in the new designs. Put your feet into the shoes and boots and your toes are cushioned in the lushness of the wool, it’s just that only you will know this, the boots are that stylish.

Of course, the beauty of the new Ugg store is that you get the chance to view the whole range. That includes the traditional Uggs, now in a mouthwatering array of bright colours. There are also the fabulous accessories, the gloves that are a must have for all due to that super soft lining, and the handbags and purses that come in a variety of highly covetable designs.

My ‘kid in a sweet shop mentality’ was pushed to the limit in this store, and no more so than when I was told I could pick a pair of boots to take home. How exactly do you choose from so much gorgeousness? It was a tough job, but eventually I chose a pair I feel in love with, tan leather with a wedge heel and side zip. Just perfect!

Trying my boots on!

My boots - absolutely love them.

With thanks to Emma Roberts of Bullring and Holly Blake of Focus PR for the invitation.
