Zatchels are going from strength to strength
One of my favourite brands has had a pretty impressive couple of months. Zatchels, the fabulous Midlands based company who design a range of leather bags to literally die for, have opened two new stores, a pop up shop at Bicester Village, and just this week, a factory shop in Leicester. The pop up shop was officially launched in June by the lovely Donna Air, giving Zatchels a great royal connection to tie in with it’s proud ‘Made in Britain’ tag. And, as you would probably expect from Zatchels, this store is a veritable treasure trove of soft leather, bright colour and expert design, with a wide range of different…

Handmade Boutique finds a permanent home in Great Western Arcade
In the run up to Christmas last year, Birmingham gained a new pop-up gift emporium that promised a break from the mainstream and mass produced. Handmade boutique, the brainchild of Tracie Bedwood, offered unique, quirky, handmade gifts and products from a range of local artisans and crafts people, with price points that ranged from pocket money to affordable luxury. Handmade Boutique was a huge success and one which most were sad close once Christmas came. But now Handmade Boutique is back, and this time it is in a permanent home. Birmingham’s Beautiful Great Western Arcade is the new home of the boutique, which has seen some designers returning, and has…

Indian Summer at Miss Selfridge
One collection I’m truly loving at the moment is the Miss Selfridge collaboration with Cosmopolitan’s Shelly Vella. The ‘Inspired By‘ collection has it roots in sun soaked India, with jangling jewellery filled with silver charms, heavily embroidered pieces in purest white and rucksacks that make you think of that young ago Gap Year trip. This collection is a nostalgia tinged trip through true bohemian fashion, by way of Talitha Getty and Hideous Kinky. This collection is full of beautiful pieces that could be your summer wardrobe, whether you are taking a vacation or a stay-cation. Delicate dresses, tiny denim shorts and black suede boots are the story of your festival…

William and Kate welcome baby George to the World
After all the speculation and tantalising slips of the tongue indicating that Baby Cambridge was going to be a girl, Kate and William have now welcomed a beautiful little Prince by the name of George Alexander Louis to the world. And it seems the world is already besotted with the gorgeous little bundle. Kate looked amazing, choosing to wear a cornflower blue and white dotted crepe de chine dress by Jenny Packham. This was a great stylish choice, the empire line showing that Kate had no intention of hiding her remaining baby bump, and the colour obviously echoing William’s blue jeans and shirt. The trusty Pied A Terre wedges made…

Alexa Chung style in Clarks Originals
If I had to pick my favourite shoe era, it would probably be the 1970s. I am kind of besotted by the idea of chunky wooden platforms, Scholl style sandals and any other summer shoes that are far removed from the Gladiator, strappy style sandals we live in today. And all this probably explains why I am such a fan of Clarks Originals. Alexa Chung is another lady who seems to be at home in the sort of sandals I remember wearing as a little girl. Her feet are constantly adorned with the sensible strapped flat sandals that make you think of scuffed knees and grass stains, and yet just…
