November has been a really stylish month for all lovers of fashion. There was fashion’s Big Night in, when the web went wild with discounts galore, and the launch of the final Kate Moss Topshop collection that saw Kate make a six-minute appearance at the Oxford Circus store. There were collaborations, collaborations, collaborations…Barbara Hulanicki for George, Valentino for Gap and most anticipated, the Lanvin for H&M collection, which saw winding queues and complete sell outs, with most things appearing at astronomical prices on Ebay within a few hours. New stores opened, Forever 21 opened its doors in Birmingham and Dublin and Thomas Sabo had an amazing Launch party for its Bullring store.
And then there was fashion…Kate Middleton was the most watched, most copied women of the hour after her engagement to Prince William was announced. Kate fever ensured the sell out of her Issa engagement dress, and also the sell out of the Tesco £20 copy. Di-Kate rings appeared in H Samuel’s and on QVC in the week that followed and the frenzy is sure to increase further, once we know who will make THAT dress!
X Factor continued to make fashion headlines. Danni Minogue winning the weekly style battle, while an embattled Cheryl was labelled a ‘Chav’ by Julian McDonald. The amazing Rebecca Ferguson further proved that she was the most stylish contestant of all time, with week after week of stylish looks. Her personal wardrobe was also to be coveted, especially when she wore this amazing coat whilst attending the ‘Very’ fashion launch.

So what else did Fashion-mommy like this month?
Well, despite all reservations, I loved my sister’s hen weekend in London. The champers flowed, the high heels crippled and the rain poured, but it was the best time. I especially loved our trip to the V&A fashion section, which had recently acquired an Alexander McQueen reptile print dress.
as worn by Anna Paquin, Lily Cole et al…
There were so many amazing dresses to admire, from Chanel, Ossie Clark, Bill Gibb, Balenciaga and Vivienne Westwood. Here are a few more of our favourites…
Another amazing, and totally hilarious part of the Hen weekend was seeing the fabulous Priscilla, ‘Queen of the desert’ at the Palace Theatre. The cast was amazing, the set was unbelievable – a girlie glittery bus on the stage – can you imagine it, but most of all – I loved the shoe! See picture below for details!
So…what about the fashion.
There have been some amazing looks this month. The cold weather has seen a fantastic array of coats and real winter warmer looks, and non more so than on the fantastic Paloma Faith. She rocked a real vintage chocolate box look at the Tiffany sponsored skate event in London. Heat magazine put this look into the ‘What were you thinking?’ column, but I love the drama and romance of the look. Yes, it is a bit Quality Street tin, but it is still stunning, all the same.
Kylie has also shown that wrapping up can be glorious. She wore an amazing coat at an event in Macy’s in New York last week. Kylie’s style has been a bit hit and miss lately, I’m not sure about her new Mark Fast obsession, but this was Kylie at her best.
Kate Moss rocked a cool winter look at the launch of her Vintage Muse perfume at the Oxford Street branch of Boots. Her new DIY fringe looked great, as did her black ‘uniform’ and very high boots.
Curvy girls have also been flying the flag for stylish winter looks. The always immaculate Beyoncé showed that white is definitely a winter option in a stunning curve enhancing dress, whilst Kim Kardashian turned up to the opening of a toilet (I so hope that was just being ironic…I’ve heard people turn up to the opening of an envelope, but a toilet?) in a dress that showed off her now famous derriere to its best advantage.
Sarah Jessica Parker again shone this month. Her Vivienne Westwood creation looked great with grey suede sandals, and was suitably witchy enough for a wizard film premiere. Emma Watson looked amazing at all the Harry Potter premieres, but the supreme look, and possibly her best fashion moment so far, was the lace and feathered Rafael Lopez dress. With her pixie haircut and youthful make up, she looked fresh and stunning.
I also loved Carey Mulligan’s style at the CDFA awards this month. She looked like elegance personified in this dress, which I think shows that you don’t have to have acres of flesh on display to look beautiful.
My top buys this month.
I loved my ruffled Topshop handbag in black velvet. This was perfect because it has a long chain that I was able to wear cross body for events where I needed my notebook to hand. I wore it with the strap for day, and as a clutch for night. Two looks for the price of one.
I also love my bargain burgundy velvet tea lady shoes that I got from Office for just £20. I think these will grace lots of Christmas events as they are comfortable as well as stylish.
I also finally embraced the yuletide jumpers that D&G foisted onto the world. Having lunch in Nando’s in the Brunswick shopping centre, I couldn’t take my eyes of a red alpine style tunic in the branch of New Look opposite. 20% off swung the deal, and I proudly wore my tunic for the first time this last weekend when I braved the freezing cold conditions to visit the Birmingham German Christmas market. Frankly, I love it and will be wearing it all through December!
I love this tunic – I bought it in Santa red.
Finally, Forever 21 in Birmingham has proved to be an amazing Mecca of style – a beautiful store selling a host of fabulous products at reasonable prices. I got these gorgeous leopard print heels that are surprisingly comfortable, even thought hey are vertigo inducing high!

November was a fashion-fabulous month. Now, roll on Christmas!!!
