I love colour in my wardrobe, but sometimes it is good to see the world in black and white. And that may be why I am in love with the latest collection from Wallis. Called the ‘Definitives collection’, this is a range of black and white pieces designed to be mixed and matched for the ultimate in minimalist, elegant styling.
What is the collection like? This collection seems to be inspired by the Kings of minimalism- Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren, with lots of clean lines, sheer panels, and some great jackets. Add in some elements of Donna Karan and Victoria Beckham (the lace insert dress reminds me of the last collection from Victoria Beckham) and what you get is a versatile collection that is ultimately very wearable.
Of course, sometimes even the most monochrome of fashion needs a shock of colour, and that is what you get on the black sequin palm print dress, with a dash of neon yellow on the hemline, and the palm print jersey dress, which has soft brown mixed in with the black. (perfect with tan leather accessories). But, on the whole, for me it is the stark white and black pieces that stand out. Effortless, timeless and managing to be fashion forward, and yet classic at the same time, these are pieces that you will be wearing year, after year, after year.
