Why Looking After Others Starts With Looking After Yourself

Giving care to people is one of those things that are considered selfless and very difficult to do since it demands endless amounts of patience, energy, and emotional power. But the simple truth is that very few cases of this care go unhindered without the caregiver first being well taken care of. Self-care is sometimes not even noticed being done and may get pushed back, yet it remains an important part of being present for others when one has very busy days with responsibilities, daily schedules, and emotional work.

Burnout doesn’t come in like a lion but rather in a stealthy manner. It creeps in over time marked by achy mornings, irritated people around, and the sense of being forever spent. Taking care of oneself is not for the sake of pleasure or getting away.
