Charlotte Casiraghi – a style star is born.
Charlotte Casiraghi was always destined to be beautiful. Her mother is the lovely Princess Caroline of Monaco, her grandmother was the legendary Princess Grace, formally Grace Kelly, iconic movie star and one of the loveliest women of her generation. Yes, Charlotte Casiraghi has beauty in her blood. This month, those stunning looks have merged with a full fanfare as Emmanuelle Alt unveiled Charlotte as the cover star for her first September Issue as editor of French Vogue. This is traditionally the most important issue of the year, being chosen as the cover star is acknowledgment of your standing in the fashion world. Being shot by the genius that is Mario Testino is another indicator. Charlotte Casiraghi is clearly being marked as one to watch.
Charlotte has that cool, elegant style that only the French seems to possess. It is effortless and chic, with a nonchalant attitude which always seems to suggest she’s wearing ‘this old thing’. Yet she is capable of moments of high fashion, look at her in pink Chanel at the wedding of her Uncle Prince Albert. Not many women would attempt to wear a dress previously worn by the iconic Diane Kruger, yet Charlotte did, and made the dress her own, enchanting the press with her sheer prettiness.
But Charlotte isn’t ruled by the constraints that govern the dress of the Duchess of Cambridge. Just look at her in a bikers leather sitting front row at Paris Fashion Week with Kate Moss, or breathing new life into white jeans with Gucci’s Frida Giannini.
Charlotte has a lot to live up to in the style stakes, but she seems to be doing it with aplomb. I look forward to seeing what she will wear next.
