Family-Friendly Days Out You Never Knew Existed
It can be easy to fall into a routine when spending a day out with your family, and by this we mean that the activity is simply repeated with little to no new addition to the day. Whilst we may all enjoy trips to the beach, or a visit to our extended family, or just going out to the city centre, these days out can become repetitive and dull.
So, what can you do to add more excitement on family-friendly days out?
Why you should encourage days out with your family
A survey conducted in 2021 revealed that families in the UK spend approximately four hours of quality time together in a week, indicating that, well, we should probably spend more time with our families.
Whilst the COVID-19 pandemic hindered this ability, with restrictions lifted and lockdowns over, we can now make the time and effort to do things with our families – activities that actually require you to get out of the house!
Particularly if you have children, these family-friendly days out might be exactly what your family needs for some good old family bonding time.
Bike rides never get old
If the weather is appropriate – meaning, sunny and not too windy or cold, why not try bike riding? Of course this would require both you and your family to know how to ride a bike, but in the case that someone does not, that’s fine too! You can make the day about learning how to ride a bike and maybe riding out in a nearby park to test everyone’s skills!
Don’t forget to wear a helmet and any knee or elbow pads if needed! Safety is first.
Museums can be fun for children too
“Museums are boring!” said no one ever. Museums exhibit both historical and cultural artefacts that you’ll probably only ever see in a museum. They’re great for educating and informing children, so if you’d like an educational trip with your family, of course you should go to a museum. The best thing about them is that there are so many to choose from!
Castles as well
“Castles are boring!” is possibly heard more. However, don’t let this discourage you from planning a family day out to visit a castle(s)! Castles are historical structures that can show a lot about the history of the surrounding region, with each castle’s architecture being distinct and separate from the next. You could find yourself walking up and down spiral staircases to secret passageways!
If you are planning on heading to castles for a family-friendly trip, it would be best to book in advance, especially if you would like a tour with a tour guide who will be knowledgeable in everything about the castle.

Who said children’s parties were only for children?
Now for something a little more thrilling – family fun at the children’s rave in London! For all of you partygoers, this is the perfect day out for you and your little ones. It is a (daytime) party for all ages so not only do your children have fun, but you can too – so get on that dance floor and dance! You can expect food, drinks (yes, even some alcoholic drinks), face painting, a DJ, and even competitions for best dancers in different age groups.
This is an exciting way to spend the day with your family, and if you have been missing attending social events since having children, well this is an event you can attend and have fun at with your children. It’s also a good idea to book tickets in advance!

Trampoline parks for the brave
Are you and your family full of pent-up energy? Or would you consider your family an active bunch? Here is what you can do to release that energy in an enjoyable way – going to a trampoline park. Trampoline parks are exactly what the name suggests, trampolining fun! There will be trampolines everywhere, with many trampoline parks having other features such as a climbing wall, a dodgeball arena, and it would not be a trampoline park without a ninja warrior course!
Free your inner child at a trampoline park and have the most amazing experience that you and your little ones will be sure to remember.

Caves for the curious
For the adventurers out there, did you know that you can actually traverse inside caverns and caves? Bring your children on the experience of a lifetime and your little explorers will definitely be awed by the spectacular formations and cave systems that have existed for centuries. You can learn more about the cave as you follow an expert guide, so be sure book tickets in advance.
