Hepburn & Hughes: Stunning Art Deco Jewellery

I love discovering new and unusual jewellery collections, and the story behind the pieces created by Hepburn and Hughes are just incredible. Louise & Zoe, the creative brains behind the brand, which is a small family-run business based in Kent and Derbyshire, design truly stunning up-cycled jewellery pieces that use natural and prehistoric materials, as well as up-cycled military memorabilia such as Spitfire aircraft and salvaged parts of HMS Victory. All the pieces are carefully shaped before being set in 925 sterling silver to create something unusual, eye-catching and beautiful.

But as well as these pieces, Louise and Zoe also create jewellery that not only harks to a bygone age, but is also my favourite design period of them all. I’m talking of course about Art Deco, the era that spans the jazz age and the 1930’s and focuses on geometry and monochrome to form the most stylish of looks.  The Hepburn & Hughes Art Deco range is full of the most beautiful pieces of jewellery that have been designed using sterling silver and black resin as its focal point.

The Art Deco Angel pendant is the most stunning piece of the whole collection, an absolute statement in the form of a necklace. Designed to look like an angel with its arms outstretched, this is a substantial pendent that has a clear Art Deco look that would make it look incredible with any outfit. It comes on an 18 inch chain as standard, but you can change this for a longer chain if you prefer a more flowing look.

I love how heavy this is, and how gloriously decadent it looks. The silver contrasted with the black resin is just striking, and yet it looks great when teamed with pretty much any colour scheme. Although this has the feel of a piece that should be treasured, the price point means that you can wear this every day, and you should totally do this, it is made to be looked at and admired.
