Loving House of Fraser Homewares
I took a little trip to Birmingham last week, and ended up in House of Fraser, which I have to say is one of my favourite department stores. I love to linger in the Beauty department, and also have a real love for the Biba clothing section. But I never really spend much time in the home wares section if I’m being really honest. So, trying to waste a little time whilst I waited for my mom and sister to arrive, I made my way up to the 4th floor… instantly fell in love!
There were just so many things that I wanted to buy. From Wedgewood Christmas decorations to candles with the most amazing scents, I was smitten with the range of items. The new Biba home selection is incredible – I added a Biba jewellery box to my Christmas list, and Instagramed a dining table that had been laden with gold table mats and a white and gold, Art Deco style dinner service. There were also vases and picture frames that I was really enamored with – all in all, there was so much to love!
I had some House of Fraser vouchers and decided to treat myself to something pretty for my living room. I have a lot of photographs in my living room, and a few candles and vases, but no actual ornaments as such, no show-stopping pieces that could be a talking point. But I am more than a little obsessed with Art Deco, and pieces that evoke the period 1920-1935, and I found the perfect piece that just sums up my love of this era.
The Skyscraper building ornament from Linea is just so beautiful, it instantly caught my eye. This is a substantial size, standing at 39cm tall, and is also quite heavy. Although it is just described as a skyscraper building, it resembles one of my all-time favourites, the Chrysler building, quite strikingly, and with the silver sheen, it is perfect for anyone with a love of city style, New York and Art Deco.
The ornament has a felt panel on the bottom so it will not scratch tables and surfaces with any sharp edges. It would make a lovely Christmas gift for someone who has maybe just moved into a new house, or possibly for a couple who you buy a joint gift for. It is just lovely and I have spent quite a lot of time admiring it since it made its way to my home.
House of Fraser has a fabulous home section that is well worth a look. Click here to view the range.
