Duchess Kate rocks the High Street yet again.

The Duchess of Cambridge rocked the Prince’s Trust concert last night and again she chose a High Street fave for her dress. She wore a black and white lace mini dress from Spanish giant Zara, and teamed it with a thick black belt and a Ralph Lauren Jacket, which I believe she wore with another Zara dress as part of her going away outfit after the Royal Wedding. This dress has raised a few eyebrows, as it was far shorter than any outfit she has worn since her wedding, but this was a concert, and so teamed with black tights, this was as close to doing ‘Rock chick’ as Kate is ever going to get!

Of course, Kate’s dress, called the’ lace tulip’, has already completely sold out, as the Kate Effect kicks in again. You can now get the dress on Ebay for a buy it now price of £139.99. (Click here to check out all Lace Tulip dress listings).

The lace tulip dress may be a sellout, but I have found an amazingly similar dress from Oasis at John Lewis, which will give you the Kate look. This dress retails at £65 and has the same lace pattern as the Zara dress.

We know that Kate has a thing for lace dresses. She wore a beautiful navy blue Erdem dress during her tour of Canada, and then made red lace dresses a trend when she wore a beautiful raspberry lace Collete Dinnigen dress for a friend’s wedding.

The High street has been teeming with lace dresses for the party season, and there have been many versions based on Kate’s dresses. Here are a couple at bargain prices.

Kate – from Haute Couture to High Street.

Anyone who thought that the wearing of that Sarah Burton wedding dress would see Kate, Duchess of Cambridge move from her beloved High Street to Haute Couture was going to be sorely mistaken. Kate left for her  honeymoon wearing a dress that was bought for £49.99 from…Zara!

Kate had shown her love for the High  Street in the week before the wedding, stocking up on dresses from Warehouse, underwear from Goldenpoint and trousers from Whistles for her honeymoon. She even bought the famous ‘Kate’ blouse from Whistles, leading people to wonder what had happened to the first blouse that led to her needing a second! But the glossy mags have been hoping that Kate would become a leading figurehead for British fashion design,  showcasing the best of British fashion talent on the  World stage.

But maybe Kate is the canny one, realising that the glamour and expense of the wedding dress needed to be balanced out by style that any fashionista could aspire to. And so the new Duchess of Cambridge left for her honeymoon wearing a Grecian style pleated dress from Zara in a lovely shade of blue, teamed with patent LK Bennett wedges that she had also worn for the wedding rehearsal on the 28th April, and a simple black jacket.

The dress, like everything else that the new golden girl of the British Royal family wears, quickly sold out online, whilst fashion sites have been referring Kate fans to copies of the LK Bennett wedge shoes, as Kate bought these last year.

Kate may well be the newest style icon for British fashion, but it is clear that clothes in this Duchess’s wardrobe will have to earn their keep.
