A Few More Advent Calendars

If you are still searching for the perfect Advent Calendar to enjoy this Christmas, then you might want to step this way. The range of calendars on sale for 2018 are both wonderfully diverse, attractive, and they have a treat behind each window that should delight, whether your taste is for gin, for chocolate, or for a beautifully scented candle.

One for Gin Lovers

Without sounding like we are heading back to the 18th century and the time of Hogarth, Gin has definitely retained it’s place as the drink of choice for many people. Yumbles, a curated marketplace connecting food lovers with the UK’s best small batch independent food and drink producers have this year put together a fabulous array of advent calendars, including ones that will appeal to both chocolate and tea lovers,  but my own personal pick is the ‘All I Want For Christmas Chocolate Gin Advent Calendar‘ which combines two of my favourite things, chocolate and gin.

The calendar has a selection of both milk and white Belgian chocolate snowflakes making every day ‘gin o clock’ (someone please buy one for the Queen) and it looks super pretty too.

The One for Spice Lovers

The Big Chilli Advent Calender from Sous Chef will appeal to lovers of spice and of cooking. It offers you the chance for a very tasty, albeit a hot and spicy December with 25 packets of Chilli flakes, spices and whole Chillies that you can use in your cooking. In addition, the advent windows tell you all about your Chilli choice, and there is a recipe book giving you tasty ideas of recipes you can use your chillies in, perfect for when you get bored of the turkey and tinsel.

Each of the candles has a suitably seasonal scent (I’m thinking Fir and Mulberry and cinnamon) that should leave your Christmas home smelling amazing.

One for Wine lovers

If your tipple of choice is a good glass of Malbec, or a chilled Pinot Grigio, then the Wine advent calendar from John Lewis is definitely going to tickle your tastebuds.  The “Wine down” to Christmas’ features 24 mini bottles from around the world. . Each door conceals a 187ml bottle of red, white or rose wine.
