A Guide To Finding Wall Art For Your Home

There are many ways you can change the look of a room in your home without actually having to get rid of the furniture. One of the most effective ways is to add Wall Art to your home, particularly if you have opted for bare, painted walls which serve as a blank canvas to showcase your style and taste. Posters, framed prints, canvas art prints and tapestries can all add colour and style to a room and are easy to install, and also replace, if your style changes. But how to choose your art?

This is my guide to how to choose the perfect wall art for your home?

Choose Your Style

The first thing you need to do is choose your style or theme. Are you looking for something photographic, or something that is more traditionally perceived as art – a reproduction of a famous painting or image? Maybe you have a favourite artist and you want something in their style, a Marilyn from the likes of Andy Warhol might be the look you are hoping for. It could be that you are a fan of a particular photographer, and want a print of one of their most famous images – check out the Hotel Du Cap Eden-roc Acrylic Print from Slim Aarons that is just so evocative of the beautiful people during the 1950’s. Or are you looking for a motivational quote, something that you can look at and gain inspiration from every single day? Whatever you are looking for, you will should be able to find art that speaks to you.

What sort of Art?

The sort of art you choose can be dependent on the setting where you are going to show it. A poster style may work well in a bedroom, whereas a tapestry or a framed print would be good for a living room or dining room. A poster could be left unframed to give a more casual look, with formal framing giving a more elegant look for your reception rooms.

Size Matters

When it comes to choosing your art, size definitely matters. Whilst you want a piece of art that would be a centrepiece, and statement piece for your room, you have to be mindful that your art doesn’t swamp and overtake your space.

You might opt for a series of smaller prints rather than one huge one as this might better suit your space better. Or you could choose one single statement piece while you leave the rest of your walls bare to make a stark affirmation of your style and taste.

Do you display art in your home? What style have you opted for?
