Boho Style From JD Williams
Boho style is always a style classic, taking its cues from the 1960’s and 1970’s and the likes of Kate Bush, Janis Joplin and Stevie Nicks, the long flowing dresses and maxi skirts, cute floral prints and chunky knits and ponchos, boho style is a look that is great for the transitional period that is early Spring. You want to embrace the new season, but may still need your layering, or your boots, and boho style is just that.
The Border Print Batwing Maxi Dress
JD Williams has created the perfect dress that embraces Spring, boho and all the beauty of the new season. The Border Print Batwing Maxi Dress is an easy to wear design in a loose and flowing style that has a real Bill Gibb/Laura Ashley early 1970’s vibe. It has slightly loose long sleeves with elasticated cuffs, and a v neckline that is very flattering on a larger bust. There is a loosely defined waistband to give definition, but it is not elasticated or restrictive, it just helps to give the dress a natural shape.
The dress is a true maxi length, falling to just above the ankle on myself (I’m 5ft 7). This means that it looks great when teamed with a higher leg boot, but also works well with a ballet style shoe. (I show both looks below). It will also look great with a neutral sandal when the weather improves – as the dress is 100% Viscose, it is a cool fabric that will definitely still work for cooler Summer days.
Wear With…
This dress is described as a black floral border print, by for me, the predominant shade is blue, and it would look great teamed with a heel and blazer for a smarter look that could work for a Spring wedding. Worn with flat sandals and a knitted waistcoat, this has total festival vibes recalling the Summer of love. A chunky knit black or cream knit could look great for colder Spring days. This is a dress that will be a really versatile piece in your wardrobe that you will be able to wear again and again. It is a style classic that will last for many Springs to come.
The important stuff!
One absolute positive for this dress is that it is machine washable, a practicality for those totally put off by hand wash labels. It also comes in a great range of sizes, going from a size 8 up to a size 32, which is a brilliantly inclusive range. The dress, as I’ve mentioned, is a true maxi length, with a 50 inch maxi length, so if you are on the shorter size you may need to add a high boot or heel to this look.
