Buying Our First Super King Size Mattress

Over the years our family size has grown, the one thing that is still the same however is our mattress. We purchased our double mattress many years ago, and today I decided that it was time to upgrade to a better and bigger mattress. I was going to make this a simple purchase, hit the internet, find a mattress online, make the purchase and enjoy our new mattress. What I wasn’t expecting was the huge amount of mattress retailers online. With so many to choose from, I was already getting overwhelmed that this was going to be much more of a challenge than I had anticipated.

I stumbled onto a website that offered customers a free mattress buying guide. I thought I knew what I was looking for already, but after reading this guide for a few minutes I had really complicated this purchase! I remember my husband telling me a few weeks ago that he had started waking up with back pain. He was having stiffness in his neck and back, and it was really affecting his performance at work. (He builds lofts so this is a real problem.)  I noticed that according to the mattress buying guide, not only do older mattresses cause body pain, but sleeping on the wrong style mattress can also cause problems in the body. As we age, our skin becomes more elastic, and the wrong mattress could make getting a sound night’s sleep very difficult.

While I was still on the site ( www.cutpricemattresses.co.uk) reading the mattress buying guide, I decided to look into the different king size mattresses they carried. I thought this mattress would be big enough until I discovered that they carried a super king size mattress. Size was not that big a concern for us as our master bedroom is pretty roomy. We have plenty of room for a larger mattress, and with the super king mattress measuring in at an impressive 180cm x 200cm, I decided this was the one for us, especially as Joe keeps finding his way into our bed at night! The colossal super king size mattress size would allow both of us to easily sleep on our own side of the bed uninterrupted now.

I was simply going to purchase a traditional spring mattress, until something I read in that guide reminded me of the pain my husband was dealing with each night. The firmness of our old mattress was too much for his body, and the way the spring mattress is designed, those pieces of metal apply direct pressure to his muscles and joints in a way that make it impossible for him to sleep soundly. He wakes up in pain, but switching mattress styles could be exactly what he needed to stop this. I considered the memory foam mattress, but I would be extremely uncomfortable being cradled in my mattress. We decided on a pocket memory super king size mattress that had the individually cushioned springs, giving both of us the firmness we enjoy, but also an added layer of comfort that will allow him to sleep more soundly.

My concerns were addressed soon after our new super king size mattress arrived in our home. Not only was the ordering process extremely simple, I was able to schedule my delivery for a time that suited me. The delivery men brought in the new super king size mattress and removed our old double mattress, spending less than 10 minutes here in our home. My husband told me the next morning that he felt like he did when we awoke in the hotel room on our honeymoon in Greece. Those mattresses was the most comfortable ever, and now we had one in our home. Even after his first night on the mattress, he had no back pain, no joint pain, and no muscle aches.

Joe loves the size of our new superking mattress, being able to stretch out in between us on the weekend and not disturb us at all. My only regret is not having found this mattress retailer years earlier when we first bought our double size mattress. We both enjoy a goodnight’s sleep now.
