Halloween – a feast of dark and gothic looks
The witching hour is almost upon us and the looks on show are decidedly dark and gothic. With Kristen Stewart and Daphne Guinness as muses, along with the high interest in Twilight sequels and all thinks vampire, there is a real fashion interest in the dark side. Leather, lace and heavy velvet in every shade of blue (midnight of course!) and black are all over the High Street and catwalks. So embrace a bit of black magic and make this Halloween the most spooky, and yet most stylish ever. Poster girls for Gothic Glamour. Here are some of the key picks for the Halloween trend. An interview with beauty Guru Sue Devitt.
Whilst Birmingham sweltered in the unseasonable heat last week, I was coolly ensconced in the beautiful personal shopping suite at Harvey Nichols where I had the pleasure of interviewing Sue Devitt. The Australian beauty guru has just introduced her wonder skincare and cosmetics exclusively to Harvey Nichols, Birmingham, and I had a chance to get the lowdown on the woman behind the brand, and her inspirational travels that have helped her develop her brand. During the late 1990s, early millennium Stila was the hot make-up brand for trend setters. Cult products and hot colours saw it turn into a company that fashionista’s turned to again and again for their make-up needs. But,a take-over by the Estee Lauder…

Caryn Franklin show wows at Pavilions.
One of the highlights of this weekend’s Style Birmingham Live was the fabulous ‘How to look good’ show hosted by Caryn Franklin in Pavilions. I went along to the preview of Thursday evening and was really impressed by a fashion show that was truly universal, appealing to all ages, shapes and sizes and to all budgets. This was a show that showcased the best Pavilions has to offer in the way of fashion, accessories and beauty. High Street names were on offer, from Monsoon and Hobbs to old reliable M&S, whilst fabulous independents were also on view, from the treasure trove that is Wisteria Lane, to a gem that…
