Checking Out Cosmo World Buffet

If you are a committed foodie, you are probably already familiar with the Cosmo World Buffet chain. If you aren’t, I can only ask ‘where have you been?’ Cosmo is an absolute must visit for all those who love variety when it comes to their food. It is a buffet like no other, with a mixture of Pan Asian cuisines that include Chinese, Sushi, Indian and Tempanyaki. But is also covers a wide range of other food choices including an extensive salad bar, traditional English dishes, Pizza and a glorious selection of desserts, including their iconic Eton Mess. Add in fountains of chocolate and cheese fondue, and you have the recipe, and all the ingredients for food indulgence. I went along to the Wolverhampton Bentley Bridge restaurant on Friday night to check out all the amazing choices on offer.

I love Cosmo on so many levels. For a start, it has an easy online booking system, and then, once you are there, you pay when you are seated, and can then literally help yourself to as much food as you like. Once you have finished, you can just leave without needing to wait for the bill. Drinks are table service, but there are plenty of attentive staff so you can always get a drink if you require another.

Food Stations

The food stations are nicely spread out in the central area of the restaurant, with seating either side for easy access. They are clearly labelled, and are constantly being replenished, so food is always hot and appetising. There are stations for starters, for Indian and Chinese mains, an extensive salad bar (with the best potato salad I have ever tasted), a sushi station, and another station that has all the ingredients to create a roast dinner. There are also pizzas, and a tikka station that has Chicken tikka, paneer and mushroom tikka. The food is plentiful and you are totally spoilt for choice.

Key Picks

I adore the starter station which has some of the tastiest prawn toast and crispy spring rolls that I have tasted. I love that there are also sauces that you can add to your dishes, and a good selection of meat, fish and veggie options. My husband adores the choice of sushi, and also the juicy chicken tikka, which is always soft and tender. I tend to stick to Chinese options, particularly those with prawns as they are my idea of food heaven, and Cosmo has plenty of dishes that fit this bill, with a whole Chinese mains section.

Tempanyaki

A major plus point for Cosmo is the hot food counter where items such as steak, prawns and squid are cooked for you while you wait. This counter is manned by an exceptional chef, and you can go up as many times as you like, having up to two choices each time. I had the succulent garlic prawns which were incredible, whilst my husband went for the squid, which was perfectly cooked, and my son opted for a perfect steak. I cannot recommend this enough, all choices were absolutely delicious.

Dessert

The dessert counter offers the perfect ending to your perfect meal. There are lots of light choices such as ice cream, mini cheesecakes and Eton Mess, which are just what you need after your heavy fill. I love the mousses that are again light and tasty, as well as the mini slices of cake. Everything looks amazing, and the small slices allow you to try a little bit of everything, rather than being restricted to one large slice. A chocolate fountain complete with marshmallows is a real treat, and, for those who are wanting to be good, there is also a lovely fruit selection.

Final Thoughts

Cosmo just gets it right. The food is lovely, the staff are warm, friendly and helpful, and the place itself looks very inviting, with a pretty floral wall perfect for your selfies and family shots. I would highly recommend this for your family get together are there is something for everyone to enjoy, no matter what their food taste.
