Reviewed: Smokin’ Hot Buffet And Grill

I’ve found a new favourite place to eat, and it’s right in the heart of Coventry. Smokin’ Hot Buffet And Grill takes the traditional buffet style restaurant and elevates it to whole new level, one which combines fine dining, personal chefs, and creating your own sundaes.  It makes eating out interesting and fun, and is perfect for the whole family.  I can’t wait to go again!

The Choices

Smokin’ Hot launched a new, expanded menu in Coventry at the beginningof June, which is already garnering great word of mouth.

The updated menu caters to meat eaters, halal diners, and vegetarians, with over six food stations featuring global cuisines like World Grill to Indian, plus new additions to the grill and desserts by expert chefs. There is a fabulous sushi section and a brilliant range of salads, and an interesting Taco section which looks so bright and inviting. You must check out the Viral Pink sauce, which is absolutely the most popular sauce when it comes to tacos.

What We Ate

I love Chinese and Thai food, so I loved this section, particularly as it had some unusual choices such as Malaysian chicken curry, and Thai fried rice. The marinated prawns were wonderful, a real fave, and I supplemented these with a visit to the Tempanyaki chef who freshly cooked garlic prawns which were so succulent. My fave dish was a pepper chicken which had a deep, unusual flavour, and worked so well when teamed with noodles.

For the hubby, the create your own kebabs using both donner and chicken meat and a whole host of pickles, sauces and salads, was a must try. He liked it so much he headed back for more. He was also very impressed with the choice and flavour of the salads.

Joe was really impressed with the Indian selection. It is presented beautifully in large pots that were sauced in India and adds to the wonderful ambience of the place. Joe loved the beautiful Butter chicken dish as he loves a milder curry, proclaiming this the best he had tasted. He was also a huge fan of the jerk chicken wings which are a popular dish at the buffet.

Dessert!

The dessert section was revamped at the beginning of June, and is a sweet tooth delight. The Sundae station is incredible, with everything from waffles and ice cream, to salted caramel sauce and sprinkles. For those who like a traditional pudding there is apple crumble and custard, whilst I loved the delicious Eton Mess. Best of all though, are the ‘choccywoocky doodah’ tubes which combine fruit, cake and marshmallows, just ready to cover with chocolate thst runs from a tape. Absolutely fantastic.

Overall

Smokin’ Hot Buffet and Grill is a must visit. The food quality is exceptional. And from the minute you walk through tge door you are swept away by the beauty of tge setting. The staff are great, polite and friendly, and very efficient, and the manager really looks after customers very well.

Highly recommended.
