How To Get More Water Into Your Daytime Routines

Water. We all know that we need to make sure we drink enough each day (the accepted amount is around two litres, although some sources suggest more.). We know that it is beneficial to having healthy looking skin, teeth and hair. We know that we need it even more during warmer weather, or when we need to hydrate due to performing exercise. But the reality is that many of us still don’t drink enough, and that we are sometimes bordering on being dehydrated. Many of us believe we are hungry, although we can often just be thirsty. So what can we do to ensure we are drinking enough water each day.

Carry it around with you so you always have a drink

My student son takes his water bottle to school each day, and fills it throughout the day, and I think this is something we should all be doing. Wanapix, a company that specialises in personalised goods, has a fantastic wide range of water bottles that you can click here to find. There are designs that are great for kids, which can be personalised with photographs and have lift up straws that make them easy to use. They also have brilliantly stylish stainless steel versions which can also be personalised with an initial, or a name. Having a lovely bottle that you can use is definitely an incentive to drink more water, and carrying it with you is also a daily reminder that you need to drink. It is also cheaper to refil your bottle at a water fountain, rather than buying another overpriced bottled water at your local shop.

Flavour it to make it interesting

For every person who enjoys a glass of water, there is someone else who thinks this is their idea of hell. So why not add some flavour to it. A little bit of sugar free cordial is great for kids, whilst I swear by Twinnings cold infusions, with Rose Lemonade being my absolute fave. These ingredients make your water more interesting, tricking your brain into thinking you’re drinking a fruit juice, and can be the perfect answer for someone who professes to hate water.

Use a drink water app

Maybe your issue is that you simply forget to drink water, or are not sure if you are drinking enough? This is where a water app could be useful. There are many apps out there to help you track your water consumption, as well as allowing you to set reminders of when to have a drink, even allowing you to set a water alarm if you need to. An app is a fun way to challenge yourself to reach your daily ‘per glass’ targets.
