Kate wears Ralph Lauren to visit Centrepoint.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Centrepoint yesterday, and the informal visit showed that like her sister Pippa, Kate is rather partial to a polo necked dress.
The dress was by Ralph Lauren, and was from the Blue Label Collection. A wool/cashmere mix, this dress had featured on Fashion-Mommy in November when it was shown in a post about Pippa’s blue polo neck dress. The dress is currently reduced at FarFetched.com, selling for £219, and is still available in sizes XS, S and L.
The dress is also available from the Ralph Lauren Website for the bargain price of $159. However, Kate’s colour way is out of stock, and the dress is now only available in sizes L and XL in the charcoal/Heather shade. All sizes are still available in the rather stylish black shade.
Both Kate and Pippa are showing themselves to be fans of the poloneck dress. A warm option for Winter, it is not without its detractors, and is definitely an option only to be attempted by the very slim. Kate may well have worn this dress to send out a message that she is most definitely not pregnant, as rumours have been spreading over this point in recent weeks.
Although I do like the look on Kate, I do wish she would start to wear a few more British looks. Of her last three outfits, only the Alexander McQueen evening dress has been from a British designer/source. The dress for the Princes Trust was from Zara, a Spanish High Street giant, whilst this dress was from the American Ralph Lauren. It is refreshing that Kate chooses from a range of labels, and her patronage of the High Street is commendable, but I would just be really pleased to see more UK High Street labels and Designer labels receiving that much-needed support from such an important Style icon…just a thought.
