Occasion Dressing with Esprit
Last week I received a very exciting email that left me a little bit shocked and flustered, and asking that age-old question ‘What will I wear?’ I was asked if I would like to be a judge for Ladies Day at Wolverhampton Races. Of course, the answer was an immediate yes, what an absolute honour to even be considered for the role. But now comes the task of choosing a perfect outfit for the occasion. I have just over a month to choose something, so the hunt starts now.
Now, I have said the event is ladies day, but actually it starts in the early evening, and goes on well into the night, which means the outfit will need to be more glamorous than something you would actually wear in daytime. But I have found a host of dresses that may be just perfect, from a label that I usually associate with daytime wear, Esprit.
I have been wearing Esprit for a few years now, I often pop into their store when visiting Central London, and I have one particular boyfriend cardigan from the brand that I live in come winter. But it is not necessarily the first place I turn when looking for evening or occasion wear, and that is a fashion fail on my part, because they currently have some dresses that can only be described as amazing.
I have picked out a few dresses that I think have the wow! factor, and could be definite contenders for my big night out at the races.
Dress 1 – The Embroidered Mesh dress
Long sleeves, acres of lace, a beautiful shade of blue – what is not to love about this dress? Walking around the enclosure to look at the outfits on show may be a chilly business on a September evening, so this may well be just perfect.

Look 2 – Floaty Lace-trimmed Crepe Dress
A little black dress is a safe option, but it is always chic and elegant. I love the that the lace detail is actually in a leopard print design, just adding an edge.

Look 3 – Cocktail and Party Dresses.
Any dress that is in a shade described as ‘dragon blue’ definitely has to be looked at carefully, and when that dress is stretchy too, leaving extra space for Champagne, then it has to be a contender.

Look 4 – The Maxi dress
A maxi dress is always a good option for a day to evening, and this one is such a lovely shade of blue, and also has a bit of sparkle that will make it a real showstopper.

I would say the first one, even though I like all of them. The first one is slightly more elegant than the others, something I feel a judge needs to be 🙂 Have fun!
