Pippa Middleton attempts lumberjack chic…with mixed results.

It  seems that not a day passes when we are not treated to another look from the bulging Pippa Middleton wardrobe. And whether she channels casual styling or chic workwear, there are always covetable items that I would like to add to my own wardrobe. But sometimes Pippa makes fashion mistakes, just like the rest of us, and maybe her attempt at grunge style lumberjack chic was just that.

This was an outfit that made me smile…and then frown. I loved the Zara lumberjack shirt, I used to wear a red plaid one very  similar to this in my grungy days, and the skinnies also look great  on Pippa’s slim frame. But those shoes are just so wrong! A casual outfit like this  needs something less dressy, French  Sole ballet pumps a la Kate Moss would be great, or a fabulous desert boot would really add some attitude to this. But those heels have the same effect as trainers with a ballgown – totally inappropriate.

There are some great plaid shirts online at the moment, La Redoute has a fantastic collection which start from a bargain £13. Check out some of my favourites, and take your inspiration from Lumberjacks and Due South –  these look great with chunky knits layered over them.

What should Pippa be wearing on her feet?

Loafers would look great and Moda in Pelle have some great ones on their site that would add a cool, contemporary look to the outfit.

I love the Eric design in classic black, or in the very Pippa shade of red patent. They also have a fantastic pair of brogues, that would look really androgynous with this look.
