Boden looks back to the 1960s for its new season looks

Boden are looking to the new A/W season with influence firmly rooted in the past. The High street style destination has produced a collection that owes more than passing nod to the styles, shapes and colours of the swinging sixties. With brightly coloured trousers cropped above the ankle, pretty tops and blouses with Peter Pan collars, and funnel neck jumpers, Boden is full of pieces that hark back to the days of Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton and Julie Christie. And then there are the fabulous dresses. Simple shift styles in warm fabrics like placket cord and stretch Ponte Roma style, in muted shades and gorgeous patterns, these dresses are timeless and…

A snapshot of my seasonal buys.

I don’t usually write posts about my own personal shopping habits, but this year I have found myself having to be a bit frugal in my choices due to having much less disposable funds that usual. This has led to me choosing a mixture of seasonal buys, charity shop finds, and recycling of some very old pieces from my wardrobe. Here are some of the pieces I have invested in this year. Next Buys I was asked to choose a piece from Next’s latest collection after my shoes blog was chosen as one of the best of the month. I totally fell in love with this lace topped piece that…

    In love with Lowie!

A few weeks ago I attended the Forward PR S/S press day and was introduced to the brand Lowie.  Lowie are an ethical knitwear/handicraft brand, who will branch into organic cottons for Spring/Summer 2012. I fell in love with the Lowie brand and, in particular, the riviera style nautical prints that will make up a large portion of their S/S collection. Lowie was started by Bronwyn Lowenthal 10 years ago. Since then, she has taken the brand from small market stores to the shelves of luxury department store Liberty’s. Lowie’s emphasis is handicrafts, bringing the likes of hand-knitting, crochet, hand-embroidery and hand-stitching into the 21st century as they are incorporated…

    Pure Collection – Cashmere Heaven.

The unfortunate thing about the weather turning decidedly chillier is my aversion to coats. I love them, but don’t particularly like wearing them, I rush about far too much, then feel hot and sticky and end up carrying them in all weathers.  But with a two year old that would be happy to live in the park or garden, there wasn’t much hope of avoiding that wrapped up feeling…until I was contacted by Pure Collection. For those unaware of the brand, Pure Collection produce some of the most stylish, covetable Cashmere items on the market. These are super luxury items, but keying into the trends in terms of colour, shape…

Win! With White Stuff and Fashion-Mommy.

As regular Fashion-Mommy readers know, I’m a huge fan of White Stuff, the British High Street brand with an emphasis on quality and originality. I  have been lucky enough to get a sneak preview of the Winter collection that will be hitting stores later this month and have to say it  is absolutely gorgeous. Warm, cosy and with an emphasis on the sort of chunky knits that have you dreaming of snowy days, I think White Stuff clearly has another winning collection on its hands. The images above are from the White Stuff Winter magalogue, the White Stuff version of a catalogue, that comes complete with stories that turn it…
