Use Your Summer Holiday To Try Something New

You may have noticed that, once again, the ad breaks on TV are dominated by holiday adverts, all tempting us to book a place in the sun for the coming year, this year more than ever. Because, let’s face it, there’s nothing better than to book a holiday in the sunshine when your dithering in the early biblical early Spring rain like we’v experienced today.

If you are already turning your thoughts to next Summer, maybe you are thinking of Europe, maybe Corsica or Sardinia (two of my fave destinations), or maybe Turkey or Greece. If you are thinking with these beautiful places in mind, you could tailor your holiday so that you not only enjoy the sun, sea, sand and sightseeing, but could also learn a new skill that could make your holiday totally unforgettable.

It is easy to add that little bit extra when it comes to Summer and Winter breaks. In Winter this can be skiing and snow activities, and in Summer you could learn to sail or to learn a new skill associated with sailing, like power boat training, or an RYA VHF Radio Course, which is brilliant in terms of both a new skill and safety at sea. I personally can’t think of anything better to do in a stunning beach location than to learn to sail, even if it is something you’ve never done, or even thought of doing before.

Sailing really is something for everyone, whether you have already tried it before and are now looking to gain a qualification,  or if you are a complete novice and just want to sail as a bit of fun.  Some holiday firms offer first class tuition from Royal Yachting Association (RYA) instructors and a superb selection of sailing craft at a number of beach resorts.

One of the best things about learning to sail on your holiday is that you are not only learning new skills, you are making extraordinary memories too, as this is something the whole family can be involved in. There is equipment available that is suitable for both adults and children, whilst free tuition is available for those who want to just take a paddle (so to speak) whilst more advanced courses can also be booked.

Summer is all about those holidays, 2022 could be the year that not only do you have the most fantastic time, you also learn something new and rather wonderful.
