Lulu+Belle: Beautiful, Personalised Jewellery

Confession. I have lots of jewellery. I seem to collect it, particularly vintage pieces. But when it comes to the jewellery that is truly special to me, the pieces I won’t take off, then these are chosen as they mean something personal to me. The Lulu+Belle Star Family Initial Necklace is one such piece, it is so beautiful, and yet elegant enough to wear everyday. Plus, it is a piece that tells a story that you will never tire of sharing.

Lulu+Belle

Lulu+Belle is a small company with a wonderful story of its own. Its founder, Sandra Pokrant, started the company with just a couple of tools, including a mini-anvil, that she inherited from her blacksmith grand-father’s workshop. The company has now grown, but they still hand-make every piece of jewellery to order, in a light-filled sea-side workshop, in the quaint harbour village of Rush in Ireland. There is nothing more special that hand made jewellery, made with love, and this is true of the Lulu+Belle pieces, which is why it is so lovely that they are personalised too.

Lulu+Belle Star Family Initial Necklace

This necklace is my absolute key pick. It is adorable! It is a celebration of motherhood, linked to a celebration of your children. On the larger disc you choose how many stars you want (up to a maximum of 4) to represent your children as your North Stars – i.e your guiding light. On the smaller disc, you can add a letter to represent your child’s name, or maybe the month of their birth – your choice. You can add as many small discs as you want to represent your family.

I think this is a lovely idea. Becoming a mom was the best thing that ever happened to me, and I love the idea of having this celebration of that fact around my neck. The fact that this is also a beautiful, elegant piece of jewellery in its own right makes it even lovelier. It would be a lovely gift for a mom, especially a new mom, something that could be treasured forever.

I love mixing my metals so I’ve been wearing this with a longer, silver chain to see how it works if you love layering your jewellery. I really like this look for Summer.
