AX Paris for a night at the Dinosaurs
You may have noticed that each month I bring you a review of an item from the great plus size range from AX Paris, AX Curve. When I was first approached by AX Paris I was a little unsure about reviewing items from the range, I loved the collection, but wondered whether it would prove to be a little too young for me. I couldn’t have been further from the truth. AX Curve has proved to be gorgeous quality, totally wearable, and something that is versatile enough to span across the age groups. I have become a huge fan.
The item I chose to review this month was the long sleeve diamante cuff smock in the nude shade. I thought that this would be the perfect thing to wear over jeans, adding a spring like feel with the pretty colour and diamante detail, but still with sleeves for this unsettled weather we are currently calling Spring.
The first thing to say about this item is that I would definitely size down. I had already gone down one dress size in this brand, but could’ve ordered a size smaller still, Ax Curve is very generous with it’s sizing. I did try the smock with jeans, but unless the jeans are super skinny I think this item is best worn with leggings, or even with bare legs come the warmer weather. It has a lovely 1960s, luxe hippy/boho feel to it and doesn’t really need any real jewellery accessories, with both the collar and cuffs are really prettily beaded.
I went to watch the Walking with Dinosaurs show at the Birmingham NIA on Thursday night and wore the smock for this event. I teamed it with brown leggings, and suede ultra- wedges and I was really pleased with this look. The only accessory I added was a very old animal print and shimmer scarf that I think was a nice contrast to the delicate nude shade.
This is a really lovely item that would be a great addition to any wardrobe. The delicate floatiness and pretty detailing make this a great item for a night out, but it could be dressed down by adding super skinny jeans, a look I’m definitely going to try soon. This smock is also available in black, for an equally gorgeous, and dramatically gothic look.
