Bafta Fashion – The Best Looks
The most glamorous night in the TV calendar is undoubtedly the BAFTA awards. The beautiful stars of the small screen all put on their finery as they battle to win the awards that really matter (sorry TV Quick and Soap Awards but you know I’m telling the truth). This year was no exception. Celebrities like Kelly Brook, Alex Jones, Holly Willoughby and the gorgeous Millie Mackintosh all walked the supremely patriotic red, white and blue carpet. But who’s style seriously impressed? Who wore the dresses that made me go – ooooooh!
Here are my choices for best dressed on the night, with a few ideas on how you can get that red carpet look for yourself.
Lydia Bright looked amazing. The stylish girl from Towie went for a beautiful, but understated look wearing a dress she will be stocking in her own boutique later this year. The soft grey looked great on the blonde, whilst the hair was a definite nod to The Great Gatsby, showing that Lydia is fashion forward. Come Christmas, when the Carey Mulligan film is released, we will all by rocking her soft waves.
Amy Childs was almost unrecognisable in her Victoria Beckham turquoise column dress. Everything about this look was grown up, her hair in an Audrey Hepburn style chignon, the minimal accessories, even the perma tan was toned down. Amy looked both elegant and classic – I hope she sticks to Victoria Beckham dresses in future – a new style star my well have been born!
Cheska Hull was another reality star who looked simply divine. The Made in Chelsea star wore a glamorous white dress that had a 1930s feel. Bias cut with a draped Grecian style neckline, Cheska could almost have borrowed the dress from Jean Harlow. I also liked the very dramatic eye make-up. The one thing I would change would be the clutch bag – a smaller jewelled box bag would’ve been a better choice.
Alex Jones from The One Show always looks good whilst sitting on a sofa, but she looked dazzling on the red carpet. She chose the brightest shade of sunshine yellow imaginable for her dress, an off the shoulder number that draped her curves beautifully. I loved that on one of the sunniest days of the year, Alex bought a little bit of sunshine to the night as well.
Millie Mackintosh looked like a Grecian Goddess in a white draped style dress from Lanvin. This reminded me of the 1970s styles worn by Bianca Jagger and other luminaries of Studio 54. I loved this look, although I think the beautiful evening also effected the way I viewed the look (on a wet red carpet I don’t think it would’ve had the same effect). She accessorised with a Saint Tropez tan and Professor Green.
