Beauty Brunch At Selfridges Birmingham

Last Saturday saw me actually getting up early on a Saturday morning (something that never happens, it’s my one lie in of the week). The reason for getting out of bed was for a very special beauty brunch being hosted by Selfridges to celebrate Mother’s Day. The idea was that moms would be treated to a feast of beauty, both in the form of demonstrations and treats, along with fizz and canapes, with a very special goodie bag to take home at the end of the session.

Selfridges Birmingham is by far my favourite store in the city. Housed in a building that is now over 15 years old, but still looks iconic and space aged, Selfridges has a fantastic beauty aisle that is chocked full with favourite brands including Kiehls, MAC and Charlotte Tilbury. The Charlotte Tilbury counter was hosting a brilliant demonstration of creating the perfect face that looked natural but flawless, and included the wonder product that is the Magic Away Concealer, a product that really does act almost like a filter for the skin, making those dark shadows disappear and skin look both natural and smooth and blemish free.

Lots of the other beauty favourites were also offering complimentary treatments. Tom Ford was offering a gift with purchases, as well as hand and arm massages, Laura Mercier was doing eye, cheek and lip makeovers using their limited edition Mediterranean Escape colour edit, and also giving gifts away with any two purchases, whilst there were also Tarot reading sessions from the Psychic Sisters, providing a bit of fun and intrigue on a Saturday morning.

Once the session was over, I had a little trip around Selfridges as it has a brilliant Primark Edit and a good Topshop section where I always seem to find things I couldn’t find in the large Topshop store. A few purchases came home with me…

I finished by enjoying an amazing Caramel Latte and cake in San Carlo Gran Cafe, which is probably the prettiest, most instagrammable eaterie in Birmingham. Just look at those flowers!
