Capsule Wardrobe pieces from LK Bennett
When you approach a new fashion season, it is very easy to be blinded by all the fabulous new pieces that all the stores and websites are festooned with. But there is a train of thought that says that we should actually buy fewer pieces, but be far more careful about what we are actually buying. Gok Wan always seems to get this down to a perfect 26 items. This is the fabled capsule wardrobe, the specially selected pieces that are supposed to carry you through every occasion, mixing and matching perfectly to create a multitude of outfits, that look different enough that nobody realises you don’t actually own that many items of clothing.
Now, I’m don’t actually have a capsule wardrobe, owning more clothes than it is possible to wear, many of which I actually hate, and never plan on wearing. But I do think the idea is strangely appealing. LK Bennett has this season produced a great range that could help you create the perfect capsule wardrobe, elegant, wearable and very, very stylish.
Here are some of my favourites. Your wardrobe may not need everything you see this season, but these pieces will be indispensable.
THE COURT SHOE

THE CLASSIC TRENCH

THE PRINT DRESS

THE SHOULDER BAG

THE FLAT SHOE

THE TWEED JACKET

THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS

THE PERFECT SHIRT

THE CIGARETTE TROUSERS

THE Merino Wool Cardigan

I must admit I love classic pieces too, and LK Bennett seems to do them so well. These are the things you always need to have in your wardrobe.

This is my idea for this year Emma. I do love LK Bennett, although I dont own more than a couple of pieces, I have had them for over 3 years and worn them regularly. Same with handbags, I had a few but my favourites are my YSL bag from Browns London (4 years on) and my Michael Kors bag bought Christmas 2011 here in the USA. Shoes again I have afew pairs, but I going to look more at classic/stylish shoes/boots as opposed to skyscraper heels that I dont wear! So there is a lot to be said about having classic/staple/capsule wardrobe pieces. Upon saying that it also depends on your lifestyle. Right now between home decor/gym my arbonne business – my wardrobe still has a bit of ‘allsorts’ on the rails. Although I have curbed my spending recently, to try and wear what I have in my closet.
