White Stuff Autumn Collection – 1990s revisited
I’ve just spent some time perusing the new collection of one of my favourite High Street Stores. White Stuff, and there’s definitely some nostalgia for the 1990s in the range. This collection is full of chunky layers, winter florals and muted shades that evoke the early 1990s grunge collection of Marc Jacobs for Perry Ellis. Long maxi skirts teamed with the cosiest chunky knit sweaters, leggings and boots teamed with long-line knits and thick knotted scarves and pretty dark floral dresses are all included in the fabulous range. There are echoes of early 1990s heroes, from Kurt Cobain in his slightly oversized sweaters that draped off the shoulder,to Claire Danes…

Jian of London’s Stardust press launch – gemstones, manicures and cupcakes!
Last Thursday saw the glorious launch of Jian of London’s stunning Stardust jewellery collection in the sumptuous surroundings of Four London’s beautiful Conduit Street Salon. This event combined exquisite jewellery with a host of pampering treats and lashings of champagne, canapes and cupcakes. The event was to showcase the stunning jewellery designs of Jane Massie and Jian of London before the official launch in September. I had a chance to be properly introduced to the brand, which only launched in the UK three years ago. Jane explained to me that previous to this, she had lived in the USA, and that she had found the UK market to be quite…

Selfridges – White Christmas leaves me feeling all festive.
Last Thursday saw the press day to celebrate the launch of Selfridges Christmas department. This year the theme is White Christmas, and Fashion-Mommy was able to have a sneaky peak at all the exquisite gifts that will be on offer for the festive season. It was quite disconcerting to leave the sticky, summer heat outside and to then walk into a winter wonderland, but that’s exactly what happened. Bing Crosby crooned in the background, whilst a snow machine produced flurries of the white stuff. And this was perfectly apt, because there was an awful lot of white stuff on offer in the gift department. Beautiful white leather bags from the…

M&S ditch those glamorous Adverts
It seems the politically correct campaign led to the nauseous Liz Jones of the Daily Mail have won.M&S have apparently decided to ditch their glamorous ad campaigns that revitalised their stuffy image. The ads, which starred a host of gorgeous women from Dannii Minogue, VV Brown and Twiggy, not to mention Lizzy Jagger and Erin O Conner, are now going to be no more. This is a result of criticism that the brand has received from the press. Liz Jones wrote in the Daily Mail: ‘Never mind yacht frolickers Twiggy, Dannii Minogue, where is the bigger woman on that boat, or the woman in her 70s? Ignore them at your…

It’s Christopher Beales for Frost/French Sadie Frost.
In all the excitement about Kate Moss’s wedding, we didn’t really get chance to examine what the guests were wearing. Well, it has emerged that Sadie Frost was wearing a custom-made outfit by designer Christopher Beales, and it seems the designer may be a new favourite of the Frost/French Floozie founder. Sadie is known for her love of vintage styling, something often seen in her Floozie swimwear, and so this is the perfect choice for the actress and fashion designer. We only got to glimpse Sadie through the car window, but she was wearing a retro looking striped outfit called the ‘Point Pleated’ which consisted of a striped dress and…
