The Adele Dress from Swan By Clements Ribeiro

When I was asked to pick my favourite piece from the Swan collection by Clements Ribeiro for Evans, I must admit to being truly spoilt for choice. I adore so many of the looks, including the beautiful Salome dress, which is still my true favourite, but I also found myself wishing that I tried on the Grace dress when I’d had the opportunity at the Bloggers day, and wondering if this dress might be the perfect every occasion dress for the festive season.

The background to the Grace dress is simple. Clements Ribeiro are one of the singer Adele’s favourite design duos, so much so that she asked them to create a dress for the 2012 Grammy Awards where she was expected, quite rightly as it turned out, to sweep the board. Suzanne Clements and Inacio Ribeiro created a wonderful dress in Adele’s trademark black, a dress that combined lace, mesh and pretty polka dots. The dress was heralded a success by everyone, with Adele being named one of the best dressed on the night.

Clements Ribeiro have now created a version of the Adele dress as part of the Swan collection. Christened Grace, this dress is not totally identical, amendments have been made. The underlining is now nude, the skirt is both shorter and slimmer. But the recognisable lurex spot detail is there, as is the lace of the skirt. This dress is chic cocktail hour dress that skims the body to give the wearer instant va va voom.

Loving the back detail.

I love that this dress is so covered up, yet still so sexy. The sleeves are perfect if you are not happy to reveal your arms, whilst that exposed back zip is a really seductive touch. The length of the skirt is also perfect, making this a real cocktail hour piece. And I love the fact that this dress really requires no further accessorising, high heels and a touch of lippie are all this piece needs to be red carpet ready.

Style Icons of the month February – Rihanna and Adele

This is the first month where I’ve felt the need to add an ‘s’ to Icon, because this month was dominated by two ladies who require no surname, Adele and Rihanna. Other than the lack of surnames, these ladies don’t really have that much in common musically or stylewise, but they do have the knack of turning all eyes towards them when they walk the red carpet. And each has been rocking some seriously retro style this month, with Rihanna channelling Studio 54 glamour with a touch of Michelle Pfeiffer circa Scarface, whilst Adele shows she is the natural descendant of 1940s era Rita Hayworth with soft waves and shimmering evening attire.

This month they stole the show and fashion plaudits at the Grammys and the Brits in totally different looks. Here are some of the reasons why they win Best dressed for February.
