The Brits – best dressed

The Brit awards were just a little bit boring and predictable weren’t they. How I longed for the rock n roll of Jarvis Cocker, Ron Wood and Brandon Block, or even Geri Halliwell in that Union Jack tea towel. The right people won the awards, James Corden did a pretty decent job, but it was all a little bit safe.

Still, there were some great fashion looks to admire. Here are my faves.

Get the Look

The ageless goddess that is Kylie Minogue chose a beautiful Grecian style dress by Yves St Laurent. With its nod to Halston it had just enough disco for the Brits. Kylie showed that her classy elegance will always win the style fight against any underdressed starlet (that means you Jessie J!)

Rihanna stuck with the 70s silhouette that has been working so well for her lately in this glorious Givenchy beaded dress. I loved the dress, which again, had the right vibe for a music awards ceremony, and I also really liked this hairstyle, which just framed that beautiful face. If I had one request it would be to ditch those gloves, they just didn’t match the stunning beading of the dress.

I hate the socks, but can’t help admiring Paloma Faith’s kooky mix of designer dress and vintage style accessories. This 40s era floral dress from Dolce and Gabbana is gorgeous, and I love that she teamed it with a quirky beret.

Adele stuck to her classic black dress look, something which is becoming her trademark. Many are talking about how they would love to see her inject a bit of colour into her wardrobe, but there is no doubt that this Burberry gown was beautiful, and that Adele looked beautiful in it.

It was great to see the red-hot Lana Del Rey wearing a dress from British designer Vivien Westwood for her big night. This style of dress has previously been worn by curvy girls like Christina Hendricks and Princess Eugenie, but it looked simply lovely on Lana, who had an old Hollywood wistfulness on the night. There was no sign of the Gangster Nancy Sinatra, more a pre-Mick Marianne Faithful.

She is most definitely the style star of TOWIE, and Lydia looked as pretty as a picture in this pink, embellished gown. I loved her Marilyn Monroe styled hair, and toned down make-up, no bright red lips with this outfit.

Holly Willoughby showed everyone why Keith Lemon calls her Holly Willabooby in a very glamorous black dress. For those who think black is a safe choice, take a good look at the stunning Holly in this cocktail number.

She has been known for red carpet mistakes, but this Project D dress got Katie Melua a definite thumbs up from Fashion-Mommy.

Made in Chelsea’s Millie Mackintosh showed off her impeccable style in this stunning green Grecian style gown with a flash of bling on the waistband. She avoided over accessorising, leaving just the belt (and new man Professor Green) to sparkle in the spotlight. Don’t know what it is with the Chelsea Girls and the rappers..first it was Caggie and Plan B..now Millie is just being good to Green…
