White Stuff says it with flowers for Mother’s Day.
Mother’s day is less than two weeks away. Last week I took my little boy into a greetings card shop to show him exactly what I DON’T want on the 3rd April. Call me ungrateful, but I don’t want any cuddly toys cradling lovehearts with ‘The World’s best mommy’ slogans emblazoned on them. In fact, I don’t want anything with ‘World’s best Mommy’ on the front. No tacky crap for me, thank you very much! But I am partial to flowers..or at least something floral. And that is a bonus this year, because one of my favourite stores, White Stuff, has unveiled an amazing collection of floral print dresses, tunics…

Designer Vintage Wedding Show hailed as a Huge Success
One of my highlights of the year so far was the gloriously frothy and glamorous ‘Designer Vintage Wedding Show’ that was held at Highbury Hall in February. This was an elegant mixture of beautiful vintage and vintage inspired wedding dresses from the likes of Jenny Packham and Elie Saab, glittery vintage ‘bling’ from companies such as Terry Terry and stunning examples of hats, fascinators and headdresses from designers like Sally Harper from The Sharper Millinery. Throw into the mix music from, flowers, cupcakes and expert wedding advice from top bridal bloggers Rock n Roll bride and Love my Dress, and you had the perfect recipe for a wonderful wedding inspired day.…

Italian Style on the Silver Screen
Movies have always influenced fashion. From Joan Crawford in her Letty Lynton dress, through to Audrey Hepburn taking her Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Faye Dunaway as the beret wearing Bonnie Parker, to Diane Keaton as Annie Hall, fashion has taken its cues from the best of film styling. And perhaps it is the magical world of Italian cinema that has had the greatest influence on fashion trends. From Lucia Bose clad in haute Couture in ‘Cronaca di un Amore'(1950) to the earthy sensuality of Silvano Mangano in Bitter Rice(1949), Italian cinema has made clothes an important part of the film story, able to highlight style, mood and personality through the swish…

Retail Birmingham Awards light up the city.
675 stylish invited guests from all areas of Birmingham retail life descended on the 2nd city on Thursday for the much-anticipated inaugural Retail Birmingham Awards. These took place at the historic Town Hall, which had been transformed into a stunning, neon lit modern venue complete with large screens and fabulous lights. The atmosphere before the awards started was electric. There was a buzz of vibrant excitement, as guests enjoyed the fabulous champagne reception laid on by Harvey Nichols. Inside the auditorium, there were cute goodie bags by Mr Simms the Sweet Shoppe that contained popcorn and Old school sweeties, as well as Birmingham style guides and the latest copy of…

Style and Champagne – The Harvey Nichols Spring/Summer Fashion Show.
The Mailbox is Birmingham’s most exclusive shopping destination, with Harvey Nichols being arguably its crowning glory. The 1st and 2nd March saw the Harvey Nichols Spring/Summer fashion show, bringing all the glamour of New York, Milan, Paris and London to the second city. Fashion-Mommy took a front row seat to take a peak at the Harvey Nichols take on the key season trends. I was seriously impressed with the styling, staging and atmosphere of the show. The show featured the pick of the new season in both menswear and womenswear. This was then organised neatly into key trends. The show started with ’70s Glamour’, with models wearing a whole range…
