Traveling to Bandung
Bandung, the third largest city in Indonesia, is also the capital city of West Java. It is nicknamed Kota Kembang, or the Flower City as well as Parijs van Java or the Paris of Java. This is because the city used to have lots of flowers and carries a resemblance to Paris. What makes its climate mild and pleasant are its altitude and the lush and beautiful Parahyangan Mountains that surround the city. Today, the city is a popular weekend escape for the locals and attracts millions of tourists from across the world. How to reach Bandung Bandung can be reached from Jakarta via road, railway and by air. Locals…

Style in the City – what to wear in New York
Of all the wonderful cities in the world, it is New York that I truly wish to visit. Times Square, the Empire State and Chrysler buildings, a Sex in the City Tour, Broadway, there are just so many things I want to do and places I want to visit, the Big Apple is absolutely top of my bucket list when it comes to travel and city breaks. Travel giant Thomson recently asked me to create a fashion mood board for the city I would most love to visit, and obviously New York was my number one choice. I thought carefully about the theme of ‘party’ and decided that, in this…

Travel Focus – Wonderful Venice
With many traditional Summer holidays out of the way, and with most children now back at school, I thought I would look at some places that are perfect for an Autumn City break, a few days out of the rat race in places that are perfect for soaking up some culture, fine food and wonderful atmosphere. I am going to start by looking at Venice, which is, in my opinion, one of the most wonderful and unusual places on Earth. A city, that was once an independent City state, dissected by Canals, with no cars to be seen or heard, and possibly a city now sinking under it’s own weight,…

#FanDayFriday – Lovely Lichfield
This week, my #FandayFriday topic is a place that I love to visit for it’s mixture of historical buildings, great restaurants and vintage and antique shops. I’m talking about Lichfield, the birthplace of Erasmus Darwin and Dr Johnson and the home of the beautiful three spires Catherdral. Last weekend was a date weekend for Pete and I, so we decided to spend a gloriously sunny day in one of our perfect places. St Mary’s in the Market place is a great place to start your walk around Lichfield, it is where you can find the tourist information centre and you can also get some amazing views across the city from…

Carvoeiro Portugal’s hidden gem
Carvoeiro, or Praia de Carvoeiro, as it is sometimes known, is a resort in the Western Algarve area of Portugal. Once a sleepy fishing village, it is now a lovely resort that is growing in popularity. A mixture of incredible beaches, great restaurants and with plenty of shops, Carvoeiro is my new favourite holiday destination, and one which I am looking forward to visiting again very soon. Tivoli Carvoeiro and Vale Covo We stayed at the Hotel Tivoli Carvoeiro. This is on the outskirts of the village, and overlooks the incredible Vale Covo, an unmanned beach which can be reached by a series of paths and steps (and is well…
