Collarless Faux Fur Pocket Coat from Simply Be

It is one of those strange paradoxes that when the weather starts to turn colder, we say we want to be cuddled up warm inside, and yet spend even more time in the great outdoors. This week is a case in point. So far we’ve spent time trick or treating with our kids, standing around a bonfire and watching fireworks, and tomorrow I’ll be standing on the freezing cold touchline as the temperature is set to plummet.

In the next few weeks, the Christmas market will be arriving in Birmingham, and I’ve got a trip planned to Lincoln to walk around yet another Christmas market, drinking mulled wine and trying to get warm in the freezing cold. Can you see what I’m getting at. We ought to be hibernating, or migrating like the birds, but we’re out and about and totally embracing it. And that is why we need a good coat.

Simply Be has a fantastic range of Women’s coats this season, and they asked me to choose something from their current collection to showcase my style. I love coats, but I just struggle with wearing sensible, practical, waterproof coats, even on the muddy touchlines, or watching my beloved WBA. I like a coat to be an extension of my own style, something that will look just as great with a dress as it would with skinny jeans. The Collarless Faux Fur Pocket Coat is basically, my perfect coat.

This coat really is a throw-on collarless coat, but with a difference.  Throw on designs are often seen as casual, but this has the feel of a late 1950s, early 1960s coat – you can imagine Jackie Kennedy, or Doris Day in Pillow Talk throwing it on. It has no buttons, it is an edge-to-edge design with gorgeous tonal faux fur pockets which just add to the slightly retro, luxurious feel. Fully lined, this is a mini length which does make it perfect to wear over trousers as well as a dress, and the mid grey colour is just a lovely alternative to black. I am totally in love with this coat and thought I would show you two ways I have worn it so far.
