Cotton Traders #PatternPark
With the clocks going forward last weekend, we can finally embrace the new season and say that it is definitely, finally Spring! With the coming of the new season we can look at our wardrobes and hopefully bring some much needed pattern and colour to it. Cotton Traders have recently launched their new season ad, for their Spring campaign #PatternPark, and their new collection is full of bright colours, and Spring patterns – Breton stripes, pretty floral designs and polka dots.
I have selected a few of my key picks of the new season range, and showed how you can style them for early Spring, whilst the weather is still changeable.
Denim styled for Spring
A denim skirt is a style staple, and the current trend is for midi lengths that offer a 1970’s look. The Cotton Traders Layla stretch denim skirt is gorgeous, with a element of stretch that makes it comfortable to wear, and a midi length which means it works well with flat shoes, sandals and espadrilles, and would also work with a knee high chunky boot on cooler days. The skirt comes in a washed blue shade that means it will be brilliant with tan accessories, and would also work with a wide range of colours – pretty much every shade in fact.
This skirt is true to size, I opted to go one size up as I have been experiencing swelling and bloating lately, but it is a little on the large size as the sizing is generous, so I could’ve kept to my normal size 16. I love that this is the perfect skirt with Spring in that it can be teamed with a thin knit junper whilst we still have some cooler days, and then a camisole or a slogan t-shirt as we hit Summer.
I teamed the skirt with the Sunshine Stripe Pointelle Jumper, which is a gorgeous striped knit in blue, green, yellow and white. I love this piece so much, it has a gorgeous slouchy style which means you can wear it tucked in or left loose over a pair of jeans.
The colours are lovely, they really do say sunshine in a knit, and are just perfect for early Spring, where that sunshine can sometimes turn to showers very quickly, and where evenings still have a chill in the air.
My second outfit is the perfect, stripy Breton dress. The Fran jersey knee-length swing dress is just one of those ‘throw-on’ dresses that always look effortlessly great. The dress is a flattering, soft jersey that clings in all the right places, and has a really cool looking squared neckline. It also has pockets, which, as every woman knows, scores it extra brownie points because who can resist a dress with pockets.
As it’s still chilly, I’m wearing the dress with tights and boots, but I love the idea of this with trainers and bare legs as the weather gets warmer. The casual style makes it easy to wear over a swimsuit or to wear to travel in, a really perfect, t-shirt style look which looks great teamed red accessories.
