Cut for Evans Returns in style

In recent seasons, Evans  has been a trail blazer when it comes to plus size design. Moving away from the ubiquitous tunics, tent style dresses and (shudder) all those butterfly designs that seem to flood the plus size market, Evans have instead offered a premium designer collection with Clements Ribeiro, and have also helped to uncover new talent in the form of the ‘Cut for Evans’ collection – the first of which was launched February this year. And now the second collection is being launched, and is offering form-fitting styles, beautiful prints and a palette of blues and purples that both clash and match perfectly.

AW_PRINT_SHOT_02_154The Cut for Evans collection this time has unearthed two new, fantastic design talents from the University of Nottingham Trent and Kingston. Eve Turley (Kingston University) and Ellie Northway (Nottingham Trent) were chosen from a huge number of entrants as this years winners, after their collections were judged to be perfect for the Evans ethos for Autumn/Winter 2014.

Ellie’s collection is concerned with vibrant prints. She used portraits of inspirational women throughout history to create a kaleidoscope of colour that breathes life into a range of contemporary pieces. I love the jumpsuit that I think is versatile enough to be worn as an everyday piece, or with heels for a sexy, evening outfit.

AW_KNIT_SHOT_02_014Eve’s collection is eminently wearable for the upcoming season has it features slinky, stylish knitwear influenced by vintage designs. Form-fitting dresses and pencil style skirts are not the usual chunky knit that dominates in Winter, and again, these designs will easily take you from day to knit with just a change of shoes and accessories.

Evans Head of Design Rebecca Vann Reicher who briefed the students before they were tasked to design the 6 piece collections says:
“CUT for EVANS is an exciting opportunity for students to learn and develop as designers and challenges what they have been taught. It pushes them to create something that can be bold yet beautiful, regardless of size that empowers and delights all at once and ultimately changes attitudes about plus size and its fashion credentials.”

I’m sure you will agree that, with their collections, Eve and Ellie are certainly showing creativity that challenges the conception of what plus sized women can wear, and want to wear.

The Cut for Evans collection launches in selected Evans stores and online across the UK and US from 29th October 2014.
and Europe in October 2014.
