Getting ready for Christmas – Paper, cards and all the trimmings
It really is nearly Christmas. So, if you’re anything like me, you will be in the middle of buying all your Christmas cards and paper, planning your Christmas food, and getting those last few decorations ready for the great big switch on (for me this is always December the 1st, and accompanied by a small glass of sherry and Slade of course.). There are so many stores out there offering everything you need to make it a perfect Christmas, so I thought I would show you a few of the my seasonal stops as I prepare for the most wonderful time of the year (cue Andy Williams please!).
Decorations to make your tree proud
My tree is a white tree with pastel pinks and blues adorning it, along with a bit of fashionista seasonal sparkle(think bags, shoes and dresses from various places). I buy a few additional decorations each year, and this year I’m loving the range from House of Fraser, in particular, the Christmas cardigan, which I think is just the cutest present decoration I have ever seen.
Christmas wrapping
I’m not the best in the world when it comes to Christmas wrapping, I tend to put everything in a huge gift bag and then tape the top. But there are some great deals on Christmas stockings and sacks from John Lewis, and these are well worth the investment, as they can be used year after year.
Cards
I think choosing a card is very important, they are one of the most personal thing you choose this Christmas, and are governed by the personality of the person who is going to receive them. For that reason, I think Hallmark is a good place to look when choosing your cards as they offer a personalised option. This can include the opportunity to upload photographs, or adding names – something which is particularly lovely if you are giving the card to a child.
Dressing the table
I’m lucky enough to go to mom’s for Christmas dinner, and my dad (for he does the cooking) prepares an amazing Christmas lunch, with enough food to feed an army for days on end. I always do a party buffet sometime over Christmas, and for this I love to stock up on festive plates and bowls for nibbles, cake stands for petit fours, and glasses for champers. BHS have a really gorgeous array of festive homeware, much of it at reduced prices due to seasonal savings.
