Harris Gibbs Hair Shop Launch Party

Harris Gibbs, one of Birmingham’s most important hair shops, celebrated the opening of their stunning new salon with a fantastic launch party in Birmingham a couple of weeks ago. I was lucky enough to be on the guest list and to enjoy a preview of the new premises, hair demos by the team, and some of the best Mojitos and food around. It was truly a lovely evening.

Alex and Chris Harris-Gibbs started their company in 2009 with a salon in Birmingham’s jewellery quarter. They aimed to bring their unique brand of customer care and fashion forward thinking to the masses, along with a background that includes styling shows for London Fashion Week. Whether you are looking for a simple cut and blowdry, or a total restyle, Harris Gibbs can ensure that you leave their salon with your hair looking the best it has ever looked.

The launch party was a great chance to look around the new salon. And I have to say it is just so stylish. It is a salon of two halves, with one side resembling a step back in time to the barbershops of the past, with exposed brickwork giving it a stylish retro look. This contrasts nicely with the industrial metalwork and white and black brickettes, looking instantly modern and yet nicely retro at the same time.

I love that the wash basin area is actually separated from the main salon, and that there are even glittery chain curtains to offer privacy when you are at the sink area. Add to this a massage chair, and the whole hair washing experience could well be the most relaxing ever.

Lasan, a St Paul’s near neighbour of Harris Gibbs, ensured that the food served on the evening was delicious, with a range of meat and vegetarian Indian treats that were very popular with the guests.

Chris Harris Gibbs gave a fascinating demonstration of a retro hairstyle on Birmingham Blogger Selina’s amazing mane. It was lovely to see just how glamorous the Veronica Lake style waves can still look in the 21st century.
