Harvey Nichols Birmingham is taking style underground

I have been to fashion shows in the strangest of places. In shopping centres, in the middle of Department stores, in plush hotels, historic buildings and industrial abandoned spaces. All have been bold and brilliant in their own way. But I can honestly say I have never been to a fashion show held in an underground car park…until now that is.

Harvey Nichols, Birmingham, based in the cities Mailbox complex is hosting its Autumn/Winter fashion show in the most unlikeliest of locations – The Mailbox Car park! Destined to be as memorable an event as its other recent shows, the show will be taking place next Thursday evening (25th September), and with just 300 tickets available, it is sure to be a total sellout.

The evening will kick off with a drinks reception at 7pm on the Lower Ground Level of the Mailbox. This will be followed by the catwalk show at 7.30pm. As has been the trend in recent years, the show will be a glamorous showcase for fashion’s most sought after designers, including Peter Pilotto, Stella McCartney, Dsquared2, Versace, Thakoon, Kenzo, Valentino and Christian Louboutin. Following the show, there will also be a chance to shop until 10pm with an exclusive 15% discount in store.

General Manager Richard Vickery explains why these shows really are Birmingham’s hottest ticket, saying “Our shows really have become the talk of the town, and each season we work hard to ensure we offer our guests something different to the one before. For A/W14, we will be bringing a host of our exclusive collections direct from Knightsbridge, with many of the pieces not available anywhere in the region.”

I think the cool industrial setting will be a perfect backdrop for the season’s hottest designs, and with a LFW worthy front row, this is an occasion not to be missed.
