Mother’s Day Gift Ideas 2022

On International Women’s Day 2022, it seems only fitting to launch my first gift guide for Mother’s Day, which this year is coming up on Sunday 27th March. A Couple of Book Ideas…

Sea State By J.M. Simpson

If your mother is anything like mine, then her choice of book will always be a thriller. Sea State by J.M. Simpson is full of mystery and suspense and is part of a new book series – The Castlebury Series. It’s heroine is Jess Stevens, newly arrived in Castlebury, new to her job on the lifeboat crew, but leaving behind a past, and secrets, that may not be prepared to let her go quite that easily…

I’m currently half way through this book and  I am hooked, it is written with a lot of warmth, but also has enough intrigue and mystery to make you want to keep reading on. Sea State has also been receiving some fantastic reviews and has a five star rating on Amazon, so if you are looking for a new author to try this Mother’s Day, this may be the one for you.

Shoes By Raissa Bretana at ACC Art Books

My perfect book would definitely be one about shoes, so this little tome from ACC Art Books, is just the ticket. A beautiful Tiny Folio edition, this book grips from the moment you set eyes on the Roger Vivier beauty on the cover. The book is (obviously) a tribute to shoes, and features all the key designers, from Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Ferragamo, Charles Jourdan and Gucci amongst many more. The shoes are illustrated with full colour photographs, and there are designs that show the history of the shoe as well as more up to date couture styles.

This is a beautiful book that will delight fans of shoes and of Sex in the City, maybe those who can’t afford the real thing, but can at least look and admire them.
